sciatica

Hello everyone and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL here i am again asking for help and advice, at the moment I am suffering from an horrendous sciatica attack, the pain is horrendous i cant walk sit or stand,and I am in agony, does anyone have any advise as to what I can do to get rid of pain and to make it so at least be able to stand up staight, a lovely lady off another forum told me to lie flat on my back and have my leg pulled(dont make me laugh at that comment it hurts) but unfortunately I cant lie flat on anything,all I am doing at the moment is sitting on an angle on the sofa with an ice pack, but i cant walk or move, please any suggestions from anyone.

I have a similar problem and to free it up I stretch lying down shoulders on the bed with feet and back up the wall...all weight off the back, then ice to reduce swelling then ibrufen then chiro

Thank you Peter ,if only I could get to the bedroom, i have taken some ibrufen but no joy as yet.

Hi Haytonmac, thank you for that, site is so informative didnt know where to look first, btw if i misspel anything its cos i have fell off my icebag, oh dont make me laugh it hurts. Anyway at the moment I am in the unenviable position of not being able to move or do anything it is terrible, I had attack last year as well and went to a chiropractor every day for a month it cost me a fortune, and i still get the pain:( :( anyway thank you so much for your offer, what on earth is wrong with you hope it is not too serious, I hate being unable to do anything it drives me crazy, but seeing as how I cant move i have no choice but to stay put, if only i could ease the pain, its times like this when i wish i was a drinker lol , once again thank you.

Hi Dee sorry to hear about your pain. (Whisky would work wonders lol) Seriously I know it is horrid been there many times and the best thing is to exercise and move dont just stay in one place. Last time I had it about a year ago, I was told to exercise otherwise it would get worse. Hope you better soon happy new year and make the most of any simpathy from hubby. Take care love lorraine

Thanks Lorraine I know what you maen about keep moving and excercise but it is difficult cos i literally can t walk, so I know I am probably making it worse, but what do you do eh?? SYMPATHY FROM HUSBAND whose husband are we talking about here Lorraine lolol Oh dont make me laugh it hurts .

Hi dee,
poor you, do you need me to come round and make you a cuppa??? just call if you do.
I get bad pain from my lupus flairs and swear by NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti inflammatary drugs) best over the counter ones are naproxen, but wal greens do a fab version called Wal-proxen...
ill bring some over if you need me, just call

Send hubby to Walmart as they do an electris large heat pad, that may help, if not get pi--ed, with the hang over you'll soon forget about the pain

One of my friends has jsut bought me a hot water bottle, that eases it a bit it is whwn i move it murders, sorry about the spelling keep falling pff my aids lol(hot watter bottle ice bag etc) But yes I will get him to go and check that out for me, cheers Mark.
