She hasnt been on the other forum either. Maybe no internet?? Maybe bad news as even she thought she may be borderline??
Hi all,
Sorry, I could not get a good connection.
We got a 3 year visa, we could not see our interviewers name on his ID card, he was concerned about our marginality and how we planned to change this. We provided him with a full explanation and at one point I thought he was jus going to say NO, but he understood and we have to admit that it was all the hard work and research that we put into our new business plan to pulled us through. He did say tha we had filled all requirements apart from the marginality. So when we reuturn in 3 years we MUST show that we have turned the business around.
We knew we would not get 5 years, so feeling very pleased with the 3 years.
We are now back in our home village and ready to have a well earned break, before returning to Houston.
Thank you for all your good wishes
Wendy

Well done, thats a very good result in the circumstances. Must have been nervewracking. Three years is quite a long time, things here should be better by the end of that. Was he a young guy, mid 20s, that someone else reported having??

Well done Twen, we're really pleased for you. At least you've got some time now and a weight must have been lifted from your shoulders. That's really put a spring in my step tonight!

Well done guys.
I am amazed that the embassy doesn't understand that with any privately owned, profit led company, it will ALWAYS put the stockholders needs before the employees. As the stockholders are the owners, then they will, in a normal commercial environment, reduce overheads to levels that ensure the survival of the company AND PROTECT their investment (not the State Departments) during any economic downturn. That is exactly what much of corporate America has been doing for the past 6 months and continues to do so and sod the social consequences. What makes the Embassy think that we Brits somehow have a magic wand that allows our businesses to thrive and have employees with no work to do, compared to US owned businesses that shed employees like dandruff? When it was said either here or on FF, that the new official can be no more than 25, it says it all. He will have been to University and joined the State dept straight from there. His world of work experience is almost nil, yet they have the power of approval/denial over mature business people. What a crock situation!
All that said, you know what you have to do and have 3 years to do it or at least be well on the way, assuming of course the economy stays the same or improves.
If it doesn't then just get the British 'magic wand' out.:D:D:D:D:D:D

Great News,
Enjoy your well earned rest. At least the consulate are showing signs of common sense at this time with the economy they way it is
Hi all,
Yes we are really pleased.
For those who are about to renew and are in a similar situation then our advise would be to make sure that you have a very good future business plan, as I metioned our BP was the icing on the cake, had we gone there with only our opinion and talking ab out what we would like to do MAY not have gotten us the 3 year renewal. We had done a lot of research ourselves as to what would and would not help our business increase it's profits, we also had documentation for future premises etc.,
Our story is GOOD news for others and although nervracking. gut wrenching time not knowing which way this was going to go....we could not see any other way of renewing except by following all the rules and going back to London.....I understand those with families who will find it hard to take on the expense of flights, hotels etc., I am not saying that everyone must do it the same way, this was the right way for us.
Our interviewer was young and yes probably around 25-30yrs
We can now go back confident that things will turn around [we are starting to see an increase already] and we plan to make the best of the 3 years.
With our previous 2 years and now a future 3 this give us 5 years living in US, we look into citizenship.
Thanks again for all the good wishes, and for those about to renew GOOD LUCK

Disagree
if business is in one of the spouse sole name the other has EAD and he can get sponsored a green card is possible
Done it several times with different E-2 holders

I got the feeling the poster thought it was the years in the US that mattered so I would of said the same as Ray...

a few cases but rare... but still will not get citizenship in 5 years
from arrival
Still lookinginto all the in's and out's of citizenship v's green card, the latter would be the easier one with 5 years living in the US...as I say we have time to look into this closer.

You will need a green card to get the clock to tick for citizenship
????????? Am I missing something?
ME TOO????????????? So are you saying that if I am the sole owner of my business. My wife is on an EAD....I can sponser her for a GC??? Is that what you are saying???? Then why aren't we all doing it....I must be stupid or something or am I reading it wrong?
