Hi everyone,

may i call on your wealth of knowledge to inquire whether.....

an entitlement to the B2 visa(valid 10yrs) would be removed if an L1 application was successful ???

thank you in anticipation

Why would you need a B2 visa if you ahd an L1 visa but the answer is you would enter as a non immigrant on your L1 visa which would initially be for a year so the B 2 visa would still be valid in your passport after the expiry of the L1 if not renewed

thanks peter,....there is a current/valid B2 which would like to be kept, especially if the L1 did not work out for any reason..

My B Visa was revoked once I had the L Visa; as far as I am aware you cannot hold two different Visas, I certainly wouldn't bank on it!!

I believe Annie is right. When you get your L Visa the B visa will be invalidated in your passport.
You also could not stay on your B visa and earn a living.

I thought that would have been the case. It's nice to hear from someone who has had first hand experience..
thanks guys;)

I do not think I am making myself clear
They have no legal right to revoke your 10 year visa. It will not be valid whilst you have the L1 visa
You should argue it can only expire by the effluxion of time (10 years) in case you lose your L status

I think Peter is right, As a L1 is only for 7 years maximum, the B2 will out live the L1, if you are changing here then you will only change your status, when you leave the country you will give up your L status. I dont beleive there are any rules stating taht you cannot hold more than one visa, infact I know someone who does hold 2, not sure of the validity now as I havent seen him for some time.
USCIS change your ststus, the State department issue visas.

We hold 2 visa, E2 & B1/2 so I suppose it is possible.

Not sure about L1 though?

maybe it depends on the guy at the airport & whether he feels like putting a big cross through it, like my E2 after I'd moved back to the UK then returned to FL for a holiday...but only after about the fourth time!!! I realize that's a different scenario though
