Another question-

If you come over to the US from the UK on a B visa, can you add/change to E status whilst in the US?

I have been told this is possible but we would become landlocked. I am new to this and just trying to find out our best options.

Thanks

Not a good idea at all. It has been done a lot but eventually when you go to the Embassy in London they won't like the way you have done it! Also, please think very carefully about being landlocked. Basically you are locked into America, what if God forbid something happens to a loved one back home, you wouldn't be able to travel back to the UK without major problems - really not a good way to do it in my opinion, although others might disagree.

Hi Annie, thanks for your reply!

Do you know if we can change visa or status whilst we're in the states. onto maybe a L if we meet all the criteria?

YOU can change from B to L or to E, if you change to L then you at least have the oppertunity to get a green card, BUT Annie is right, especially if you go for the E2, you will be landlocked and if on E2, possibly not a chance of getting a Visa, at least in London from what I have read, as they dont like that route, Lvisa can be changed to and at least you have a shot after one year.

just get off the plane ., get through customs and burn your passport ....

learn to speak spanish and you will be welcomed with open arms, all the illeagles are going to get amnesty in the next 2 years , how ridiculous is this country when hundreds of illeagles organise a protest at not being given green cards for free. How many of those who openly boasted on TV about being here illeagally were picked up and deported ....NONE

Get a tan , buy a lawnmower and your laughing all the way

Thanks for your replies!
Is it possible to arrive on a B, change to an E status as this gives us a 2 year period to build the business, then within this time, change to an L status (providing we meet the criteria in our UK business too) this way could buy us time to ensure all the criteria is met. And can we do this without leaving the U.S?

Your comment Steve, did make us chuckle!!!

Steve, you do make me laugh. I know you wouldn't want to return to the UK but you are not afraid of saying what is wrong with the US of A!!! I just get so annoyed when people think it is the b all and end all of all their problems, it is just the start haha!!!

As long as you are strong and happy, then hey go for it, but there are no guarantees in life. I think I have learnt this over the last couple of years since coming back to the UK but I do think that people should be made aware of the problems and then it is down to them if they make the decision to relocate. Since reading the posts of CAbound and Mr & Mrs Sunshine they seem to be thinking that their Attorneys know it all and are invincible. Unfortunately, even though these people might be doing a sterling job, we thought that with the people my son and d.i.l. used, they were told that the request for further information was not a problem, in some cases it isn't but they didn't prepare my son for his interview and he fell down on it, the rest they say is history!!
We on the other hand started off with a guy who is or was in jail and got Green Cards. Go figure!!!!

I really do miss the tan - although don't miss the humidity that goes with it. Looking forward to the good old British summer, it's got to come at some stage and when it does will make the most of it and store it up for winter to come lol!!!! Just love the wonder of it!!!

Good luck to all those wanting the change, and those who are already there waiting for the change!!!!

Love Anniexxx
