Hi
Here is a reply to my recent letter sent to Sen Nelson

Dear Mrs. Ward:
Thank you for contacting me regarding immigration. Immigration is an important issue of special consequence to the people of Florida.
Immigrants strengthen our state and our nation and are positive contributors to American society. We are truly a nation of immigrants, and our diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths. At the same time, the influx of illegal immigrants across our borders provides special challenges to U.S. immigration policies, and we cannot ignore violations of U.S. immigration law.
In order to encourage legal immigration, we must ensure that all applicants receive fair and timely consideration from the Department of Homeland Security's Citizen and Immigration Services division. I will do my best to see that there is adequate funding for the efficient processing of those trying to enter this country lawfully, while providing sufficient enforcement to stem the flow of illegal immigrants.
I will keep your views in mind as immigration matters come before the full Senate.
P.S. From time to time, I compile electronic news briefs highlighting key issues and hot topics of particular importance to Floridians. If you'd like to receive these e-briefs, visit my Web site and sign up for them at http://billnelson.senate.gov/newpages/newsletter.cfm .
