The IT industry is having a hard time getting off the ground in Australia. Hopefully this will change sooner or later. The skills they tend to prefer atm are doctors, lawyers, and certain specialised tradesmen.

Hope that helps.

Kitty,

For some info , go onto www.workpermit.com
They have the list of careers in demand available in Australia. Aparently its quite easy to get in there at the moment ?
Good Luck

We have friends that applied to Australia under skilled worker catagory (he works in HVAC) They started application around the time we started looking for a business here in Vermont. NO problems, medical okay, paperwork all submitted on time. We've now been here 18 months....he's still waiting for approval - that'll be ..um three years! E2 may be flawed but at least it can get you started on your dream fairly quickly

Hi
My inlaws all live in Australia and about 10 years ago we looked into moving out there and at that time you qualified on a points system.Points added for skills points deducted for age and if you still have relatives in the Uk.At that time you could get in on job sponsorship.

The Australian Embassy have a SKILL'S LIST. if your occupation is on it, and you meet the points test (think it's 105 points) for English, Age, ect, you can put in an application. My Son in law, Daughter, and 2 grandkids, went to Queensland 18 months ago, they love it...you do not need a sponsor if you meet the skills list criteria.you can find a job when you get there, you also get permanant status straight away, which is better than the USA system.(IMMIGRATION IS NOT EASY IN ANY COUNTRY) ..... Good Luck.
