Hi I have had a long conversation today with someone who is here on
E2 visa. They will be joining the site soon and will tell Susie the full story. He has paid an attorney 4500 for Green card application (was told he could do this) anyway the long and short of it is the attorney didnt file, never answered any calls and he now trying to get money back. I told him to come on here, also to find out if the attorney in question is in the florida bar. He has now put his own application in and paid himself. The attorney is nowhere to be seen or answers any of his calls etc. Hopefully he can pass on to Susie the name and privately we can make sure no one else goes to him. Be careful out there so many con artists. I would only use someone recommended by another very satisfied brit. Kind regards Lorraine

I trust the person in question will be reporting the matter to the Sheriffs Dept. I am sure that the State Dept 'police or DHS would be rather interested in asking a few questions to this attorney.

Hi Lorraine

I am truely concerned for this person and would like them to pm me, only with the name of the attorney. Also with their contact number

We do have a victim support system whereby people only pm ME. the reason is I am currently working with victims of another scam and need to keep this very close knit until investigations are carried out. It is possible that over victims have already contacted me

I am currently working with a Radio station and TV channel on the recent scams and others !

Polite reminder to all

If you feel if you have been scamed, ripped off, or misrepresented by any attorney or visa specialist please only pm ME, This will be held in the strictest confidence, unless the victim contacting me, requests that I put them in touch with other victims of same scam

Please do not name names on the forum, and remember innocent until proven guilty

This type of thing is horrendous - I would certainly recommend your friend follows Chris's advice re the full force of the law. Especially if he has agreement documents showing what he actually paid the attorney to do.
I hope all works out for them.

What the Attorney did was fraud, which is a felony and a serious crime here. That's just for starters. Given that he is probably breaking immigration law, that too is probably a felony.
My advice to this person is and no offence here Susie, is to speak to law enforcement first as a crime has been commited. Should he choose to seek other help and support through the forum, then that is his choice.
I don;t think the law enforcement dept's would look upon the forum too kindly if we are encouraging victims to come here first, whatever the good intentions.

Hi Chris

No offence taken, and yes I agree that if there has been a crime committed then this should be reported to the sheriff in which county the crime was committed

Having beening in the met I fully understand about allegations of crimes and we must not loose sight of the fact that innocent until proven guilty

This is where expats voice can assist the police by collating victims of same person and encouraging them to band together and report. It does surprise me that many victims are reluctant to come forward as they quite often blame themselves for the situation they find themselves in but no one should blame themselves and need our support, force in numbers so to speak
