Florida implemented the Real ID requirements for Driving licences last year. For non-US like us, it's a bit more of what we already have to deal with. The big problems come when the home grown folks have to toe the line like the rest of us (remember the Oklahoma bomber was home grown) and they don't like it one bit. At the DMV when we were there, the number of local yokels who were getting on their high horse or totally confused by it was high.
I read an article a while back that Janet Napolitano is NOT a supporter of the Real ID Act and would like to see it done away with. However, given this country's paranoia on terrorism, they would most likely simply replace it with something equally bureaucratic and flawed.
America has to decide if it is the UNITED States or a bunch of INDEPENDENT States all paddling their own canoes.

We don't have real ID in MA ...my licence is now good for 10 years..I never had to show anything to get a renewal...I sometimes fly using my green-card..so its no biggy..I can't say I will be flying much anymore anyhow..it will become cheaper to drive to FL once we factor in the price of car hire plane tickets for 4 people..bus tickets..and we can see more of the US

I thought a law was going to be introduced to make all Americans get a passport even if they are flying within the 50 states of the usa
