I've been reading all the postings about the nightmare E2 visa. Don't give up - we had our E2 visa renewed in Sep 2005 and got 5 years. Our friends had their renewal interview today in London and they have been given 5 years too. Their visa expired last November and they had to get an extension. Finally 4 months later and they are now good for another term. Our businesses are in Phoenix.
Hang in there everyone in Florida.
Hi Ktaylor
Welcome,
It seems anyone in Florida is getting a 2 year renewal at the moment. Do you think you got five years as you ar eout of Florida or because you business was doing so well

Hi K Taylor
Your message has given me a little hope! Can you tell me the date when your friends first applied to the Embassy for renewal? That will give me an idea how much longer I have to wait to hear from them for an interview. We are in California and applied for our renewal in Oct - we received an acknowledgment telling us it would be at least 24 wks - but I know those dates mean nothing at the moment. Our visa Expired some time ago but we still have status - I am hoping we will hear soon so that we do not have to get an extention of that status. In the meantime we are in limbo here and prying that my Husbands 84 yr old Dad along with all our other realtives will stay in good health so we do not have to leave the country! Any news you can give me will be better than the "be patient" I keep getting from my attourney.

I don't know if we got the renewal because of being out of Florida or not. Our business wasn't doing great at the time we renewed in 2005, but Lesley Silitto done the renewal application for us. We are doing very well now I'm pleased to say. I can't answer for our friends business - but obviously very happy that they have got five years too.

Hi
Wow, five years ! that is fantasic news. Please pass on my congratulations
My immigration attorney stated on the Trevor McDonlad show that the embassy works in strange ways. In the past everyone got a five year visa, then for no apparent reason this changed so that everyone got a 2 year visa. Lets hope they have seen the light and now back to giving five year visa's

sugesstion wish list 1)e2 visa depdants kids after 5years of stay in usa get some certainty which in long run could sponsor the parents 2 ) e2 visa holders get certainty by applying here in usa for renewal rather than london .
i am on e2 visas 4 years my son has lived here more than uk . trying to get renewal by going to london ( uncertainty is stressful).extentions can be done from here why cannot renewals be done here .if your group could get this major issueess passed it be a major achievmeent anything achieved will be great .All issuess cannot be covered by the bill howeever something is better than nothing .all the best to the ones putting the effprt for change to e2

it is ridiculous to make us return to the uk for renewals. Had to take the kids out of school for the interview. We thought we would turn it into a holiday at the same time but the school was not happy. They said we would have to remove our children from school and re register when we came back. They also said if we did this they could not guarantee our kids would be with the same peer's on their return. in the end we only went for a week

I have to agree Sharon...removing the need to return home would be a good thing...people don't need the extra worry or cost...the money would be better spent here in the USA on your business...

It is a pain taking kids out of school. Our renewal interview was in March smack in the middle of FCAT so I went on my own for 1 week and got it renewed by Glen for 5 years then my OH & Daughter went back in July to update theirs. Now mine expires March 2012 OH is July 2012 & my daughter who apparently was attached to my visa had hers stamped in July but expires March 2012.
