Hi Fatbrit
Thanks for posting.
America is supposed to be the land of the free or brave or whatever but even though (in some state) gay marriage is legal this is not recongnised by the immigration service.
I do feel that no person, race or creed should be discriminated against and that America should start to move with the times otherwise will fall behind the rest of the world. Or have they already?
Maybe if we can get a compassionate visa introduced this could cover immigration for these minority groups

There is a certain irony in coming to America to escape persecution for this. Not so much in the big cities but in the sticks... Would have though if you were going to pursue asylum in an industrialized nation, it would be anywhere but here!
The US legal system split between the feds and states is also weird. But it would require federal legislation for immigration to recognize the validity of same-sex marriages. The only recognition I know is the provision of B2 visas for significant others -- mainly affects L1 and H1b holders.
I really can't see Kansas changing in the foreseeable future, I'm afraid. Such a move would give the neocon right an apoplectic fit. Hopefully this story will stay tucked away quietly doing its good work.
