Good friends live here now and have their GC's.Their parents from the UK have spent 9 months per year for the last two years " visiting" them. They did travel back to the UK twice during each 9 month period. As part of his retirement plan he recieved worldwide travel insurance till his 70th birthday and that just happened. They are looking for affordable travel insurance for seniors over 70. They still maintain a small flat in the UK as part of their daughters larger home. No real medical issues beyond old age. Any suggestions ?

As this isn't a visa issue but a British issue, i'll move it into the European residents section.
Dee has made good suggestions. Might be worth checking with banks and credit cards. Bank accounts and credit cards normally provide travel insurance as a perk of having the account. Normally the cut-off is 65 however, you do the get the few that don't restrict. For example, I think Natwest Advantage Gold covers upto 85.

My parents are 75 and 72 and are coming to visit me for 5 weeks. They needed travel insurance and were given quotes upwards of 350 Pounds because 1) dad is 75 and 2) they were coming for more than 31 days.
A friend of theirs told them about the travel insurance that comes with a TSB Bank account. I don't know all the terms but my parents opened a joint bank account and put 150 Pounds in it. Then for 15 pounds a month they get all sorts of benefits which include worldwide travel insurance for both of them up to the age of 80 years. It includes trips of more than 31 days - but that is because they had to upgrade to a Platinum bank account.
They were told that they could close their bank account after they return from their trip and it would only cost them whatever number of months they have paid (in their case 3 months / 45 pounds) but they are going to keep the account because they are sure to visit me again (I hope!!).
There is a term that they should have a minimum balance in the account of 1500 pounds but TSB said that they could put that in anytime within a certain period.
But really, I think its a great deal as we all need a bank account and so dad is just moving some savings to that account.
The travel insurance coverage is very good and on a par with anything they were offered by other agents for more than double the cost it will be through TSB. They even know my mother has typeII diabetes and high blood pressure and that dad has arthritis.

Don't be put off by the path2usa website looking as though its in India as the insurance companies there are actually US ones undewritten by Lloyds of London in most cases. I just did a quick quote on $100,000 of coverage for a person aged 70-74 and it was $35 for 2 weeks...try it anyways!

Hi Alan,
If they have any pre existing medical conditions they do need to disclose and might be a good idea to contact their doctors as they may know of an orgaization that will cover them, eg heart problems, The British Heart foundation etc.,
