Well its nearly that time of the year again, folks, hurricane season starts on June 1st and the National Hurricane center has predicted 8-10 hurricanes for the East Coast/Caribbean of which 4-6 will be major hurricanes cat 3 and above. After the devastation of Charley and Ivan in 2004 and Katrina and Wilma in 2005, what will be new season bring. Not too bad over Central Florida, I hope.

We are due for a big storm up here...last one was 95 or 6 ...our house lost its roof to a twister....most of the houses around us were built in the 1800s and are still standing which gives us some hope....the big problem we have are trees..way to many large old trees all around the house....

Not too bad anywhere , I hope.
At least we are now more prepared !
(unlike during my first hurricane when I went out and filled up with frozen stuff....DUH !!)

We would have to leave the Cape....our house has taken many a storm...but I'd not like to be in in when it did because of trees falling....the blizzard last year was bad enough...

I noted that on the news yesterday that the actual number to the predicted for 2005 was way out and thus I am predicting that we will have 12 major, 4 minor and a partridge in a peartree!!

If storm numbers are down and we don't have so many Major storms this year we could be OK for a while....if not we'll be in for another 20 or so more years of bad storms all up and down the East coast....

Hope the partridge in the peartree dont fall on my house, David!! Seriously I am hoping they steer clear of here, I had enough of dragging pool furniture in and out of garages in 2004, that wasnt fun, neither was dealing with guests in houses without any electricity afterwards.

Good point JulieC. It reminds me on one guest who decided to dig soakaway holes underneath every bloody drainpipe!! Jeeze, it looked like Mr Gohpa (spelling) from Caddyshack (very funny film with Bill Murray for those who haven't seen it) had been around the yard with a spade digging for oil.

Still, I do predict this will be a bad year for storms and as such I feel for those, especially on the gulf coast.
