Hi guys

Good to hear that a couple got their E2 visa. I am on 20 weeks.
I am so scared, somedays I think it is better hearing nothing.

I am concerned about the interview ( If I am lucky to get that far) !.

Can anyone give me advice on what questions they ask ? what extra information / documents I should be looking into ?

Any help would be great

Thank you

Don't get concerned about the interview. They will tell you what documents to bring (if any) If you have a bonefide business and have put together your application as specified then it should just be a formality. IT appears that at last there seems to be a reasonable guy in the Embassy so we should hear less horror stories. Keep your chin up girl - it will be fine :-)

Because of the long wait you will be asked for updates on your application. This is what we were asked for

a. Evidence of ongoing and continued residency in the UK .
b. Evidence of initial source of funds invested.
c. Evidence funds were paid into escrow account (bank statements, cashiers checks, wire transfers, cancelled checks, escrow ledger, etc. showing funds actually received and deposited by escrow agent)
d. 2006 US Corporate Tax Returns and W-2's/1099's
e. Evidence of ownership of real estate by real estate company and business by All That Gas, Inc.

Point ‘e ‘is specific to our case as we have set up 2 companies one to own the real estate and one to own the business and that wasn’t really made clear on the contract assignment.

If you get something like this things should be pretty smooth as they are not asking for anything ‘new’ so they must be pretty happy with the initial application.

However watch out for the last sentence.

Any other relevant documentation deemed necessary to substantiate the application.

In other words take anything else you may think is relevant!!

Expect an offer to contact them for an interview around week 22. However although processing times have got a bit shorter they are taking 8/9 weeks to schedule the interview. Our interview on May 25th will be 31 weeks after submission. Asked for a cancellation as we only live 1 hour a way but told it was that date or nothing!

Thank you that has helped me loads.

I suppose I just panic all the time, this forum has made sense of a lot of fears as there are so many in the same boat.

Fingers crossed I will hear soon.

Thanks again

Hi,
We have just got our interview date too. After 22 weeks of waiting we have an interview date of the 4th June. Like you sometimes its better to hear nothing but when you get the invite ITS FANTASTIC - then you start to worry about everything they could ask you.
As we are starting a new business they have asked us for P & L accounts of a similar type business that is currently running in Virginia, not sure how we are going to get these - any ideas greatly appreciated! They have also asked for our sons academic record for the current year and proof of UK residency.
Hopefully the interview will run smoothly, I have put together so much additional information to support our application they may not let us in the Embassy. My husband is reciting the business plan in the bath daily ( not a pretty sight).
Anyway good luck and let us know when you hear.

Hi Timtom

This seems a pretty difficult request. Unless you are friends with someone over there who is running a similar business to your start up how an earth are you going to get P&L? No rival business is going to let you have their access to their totally private P&L. Do you have business consultants or accountants in location who have contacts who can help?

Hi Jo

Is it a Franchise you are buying? If that is the case surely the Embassy will look at any other business which is part of the Franchise but in another State! If it isn't a Franchise then I can only imagine a Business Plan would incorporate any local market data to justify profit in your business area in Virginia. I would ask your Lawyer, if your using one, they will have come across other cases similar to yours.

Wow it's scary isn't it! I think they are trying to put people off applying don't you?

Good Luck!

Mandy

Good Luck Joanne

I have sent you a PM about my interview experience...and I offered our business plan to the interviewing officer and he said 'no thanks!'....best to take more than you need so you have anything they could ask for though :)
