Last month I was in England for 6 days. On returning to Orlando Interntaional I was on the Virgin flight and hence many holidaymakers. At the same time, the BA flight was in and so the immigration lines were pretty long at lines 1 to 25 for 'visitors' lines 26 & 27 for 'residents' and line 28, 29, 30 & 31 for US citizens.
As you can imagine, lines 1 - 25 were very busy and there were a few going through 28,29 & 30 but none through 26 & 27 (residents). So what did I do? I took example from our daughter, when who wants something, doesn't stop talking and thus gets her argument in first and firmly. So I approached line 26 with my US visa on show and said to the immigration control lady that I'm not a US citizen or a visitor as I have lived here for the last 3 and three quater years. She claimed that the line was for 'pernament residents' and so I suggested to her that the neon signs should be more clearly marked to say so. In the end, despite the fact that she had no one else to process, she decided to 'take me.' Boy, don't I always look forward to passing through immigration!
