As anyone else seen the article in todays BBC news website? The article states that the US Senate has announced today that it is to hold a series fo public hearings to debate the immigration issue, the Senate and the House are currently battling over. Whilst the main focus is clearly the illegal problem, it doea allow, because it's a public hearing, the opportunity for us Brits to point the unfairness of our situations. Importantly, it also will allow E2'rs, especially those who employ US citizens ... to tell it like it is.
They said in the article that the hearings would be held in August in likely be in the South, South Wset and other areas where there are illegal immigration problems. I guess that means throughout the whole of the USA!
For all the folks out there who have been seeking a chance for their voice to be heard - it looks like your prayers may have been answered. Unless of course, we debate it to death on the forums and do nothing about.

Peter,
Don't know who Grumpy is. Don't know whether story is from New York Times or Ikley Gazette, don't really care. I'm just ensuring the forum readers see what is for me new news. I don't really have a great deal of trust in US news media, much prefer the accuracy of the good old BBC.

Well let's find out where the meeting is going to be and on what date and try and get some of us to go and put our view of 'legal' immigration across.
I have put this idea on another forum also, so let's see what happens.

Hi Zoe
Yes lets do it
I spoke to a chap today who is frightened to visit his home country in case the POE do not allow him back in the USA
He is in no mans land, waiting for a visa approval, waiting for work autho and waiting for a travel document
His close family member is ill in home country and is desperate to visit but will loose his immigration rights if he returns to India

That's what worries me at times.
We have been waiting 9 months for our renewal and even though my parents are no longer alive, I have an aunt who is 89 and I haven't been to see for 2 years. If she became ill, I would be in a real quandry.

I know two people whose relatives have died whilst they were pending and been unable to return to the funeral. Its a great worry.
