View Full Version : Tightening up even further.

I have just heard from two separate sources of two instances where people coming up to renewal have gone home to renew their I-94, and only been given an 1-94 to the end of their visa rather than two years as previously on re-entry. Cant find anything within the law but USCIS makes its own operating policy, if they have changed the guidelines it would be nice if they told people. I seriously now think they are tightening and tigtening up out of all recognition. The writing is on the wall, we just arnt reading it.

Hi Julie,
It is in their manual and anyone who is only given a stamp until their visa expires should ask to see the supervisor. Sometimes I think that the entry officer is just trying to wind people up or perhaps has a dislike of E2 ers.

Hi
Yes I have heard this too
Not only that but when my drivers license was due for renewal they did not renew for 7 years as they had in the past. They only renewed it till my L 2 expiry date
I then had to wait (without a licence) until I received a notice of action covering my pending adjustment of status.
Back I went to the drivers license office three weeks later and they renewed my drivers license for 999 days !
This was the expected wait time for my application to be reviewed

Our FL drivers licencses are tied into the renewal date on our I-94's. Ino ther words we renew our license every two years. It gets tricky at renewal time with both expiring at the same time. However, the DMV will issue a temporary, paper, non-phot license on presentation of receipt from CIS. This license lasts for 30 days and you keep renewing till you get the 94 back and can then get you replacement license, which despite lating last than half the length of a license for a US citizen costs the same!

Chris
I renewed my driving licence with the receipt for my I94 4 weeks ago. I was given the piece of paper, but have just received my proper licence, dated for 2 years.
Some licence offices won't renew at all with the receipt. I had to travel 65 miles away to do mine.
We are going to take our daughter to get her learner permit from the same office later this week.

Did you go to Winter Park, Zoe? I heard they are the only ones who will do it for people pending renewal.

Hi Julie
Yes I agree.
I truly cannot understand why the USCIS makes life hard for themselves and even harder for us
A good time and motion study would not go a miss
Or better still a time bomb up their xxxx
Sorry, but it is about time some said this
