My sons moving back to the states, but living in Nevada. He let his Florida driving licence expire when he went on his travels. Can he simply renew his licence in Florida and then change licences when he gets to Nevada? or does he have to take a test again either here or in Nevada?

Hmm.
When did his FL license expire? Might it be easier to renew his FL license, then apply for his Nevada license on the back of it.
I know in FL, you can drive on out of state licences for a given period of time, then you have to apply for that state's license. I have some Brit friends who just did that when they moved from FL to NC. But it was all a paper exercise, they didn't have to take a test in NC.

I have no idea on the driving license question but what is he going to be doing back in the US, DYT! You are not telling me that those Nevadians need a teacher of English as a foreign language!! But then again maybe they do!

I've been told, by an employee at the driving licence center, that as long as he has his old driving licence he can be renewed with documentation that proves his parents have residence in the US.
As with every thing else with 'officialdom' ........... we'll wait and see.

Love actually.:)
BTW, if you ever get the chance to visit Matt in Korea, do so. I'm beginning to believe the trauma of aging out for the children of E2ers is more to do with self-inflicted guilt on the parents for bringing the predicament on the family than it is for the kids.
They're more resilient than we give them credit for, and, in my sons case, become better people for it.

American girlfriend?? What about visa issues though?? Maybe another kid married to a Yank and no ageing out problems at all???
Yes we are going to Korea in August to visit him. He really loves life in Korea and has a lovely Korean girlfriend. Yes you are right, I dont think he has suffered in all of this at all, he loved life in Florida and he loves Korea more and has come out a well rounded, well traveled individual.

I am so happy for you all, sometimes things happen for a reason, we do not know why at the time but seems to make sense later on

An American girl he met on his travels. He's back on a student visa. WE met him in Tblisi, best way to describe it is he went on his travels as a boy and came back a man.
Travel realy does broaden the mind.

Can you believe that?? All those years in the US and he meets an American girl when he is on the other side of the world. Student visa isnt good, mighty expensive, but I presume you know that. Doing a masters I presume??

Sorted. Not too much of a problem. He had to take a written ( computer ) test. He passed, but there are several differences in the laws in Nevada. Apartment sorted, car sorted, school fees sorted............ retirement put back a few years. :(
