We do not get to hear too much of what is going on in the UK. Can anyone enlighten us? The English newspapers are very expensive here and news a couple of days old anyway so can any of our uk members share whats going on?

Are property prices going up or down? Is the health serive at breaking point or improving? Is unemployment high or low overall?

Whats the news headlines of the day?

Well Tony Blair has resgined and Margaret Thatcher has been taken out of cryogenic storage and reinstated as head of Europe. Terry Wogan is Deputy prime minister, June Whitfield foreign secretary and Joanne Lumley health minister. The surviving members of the bay City Rollers have taken over the scottish parliament. Prince William, married Kathy Burke and princess Waynetta was presented to the press at the opening of the Rothmans factory last month. 78% of the population are now on benefit - the other 22% are working actors/actresses on The Bill or Eastenders. The M25 has been closed and is now used as a roller skating ring to keep the 58million unemployed occupied - they have to get to the end to claim benefit!!. Marks and Spencers have taken over Anne Summers so you can now buy vibrating knickers The NHS has gone into melt down and closed - Boots the chemist has trained its saturday girls to perform open heart surgery to 'fill the gap". The BBC has been taken over by Disney corporation and so the 6.00 news is now announced by a large mouse. Other than the invasion of ants the size of rabbits and the virus that has turned all ginger headed people dark green not much has changed (Well thats what it said in the News of the World anyway!:D )

If I were you Sharon, i'd keep up http://news.bbc.co.uk as its an excellent British news source and totally free. If you can find a British proxy (or know someone in the UK that can set one up for you), then you can listen to BBC radio online.

Basically... Gordon Brown will be PM soon. David Cameron is proving to be more useless (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6722765.stm) than his predessors. Big Brother is going on (http://www.channel4.co.uk/bigbrother), and someone was already chucked out for racism (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6729673.stm), less than a week in. NHS is as naff as ever. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6757355.stm) There's been a lot of rememberance for the Falklands War (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/uk/2007/falklands_anniversary/default.stm), which happened 25 years ago. As InnVic said, Thatcher has been wheeled out of cryo-stasis, and looks pretty good for her age.

That's all the recent British-specific news that comes to mind anyway.

Don't forget a cross eyed yet very talented bloke has won Britains Got Talent singing Nessun Dorma, turned out That bloke in Emmerdale was killed by his son, and Jordan's still on the cover of Hello! magazine, most likely whinging about some aspect of her well documented life.

We get all the english news on Sky from Portugal. David Beckham played his last game for Real Madrid and no he wasnt in the honours list, so no knighthood for him. Big Brother is on, interesting twist, first of all they put all girls together in the house, now they are slowly introducing blokes, namely a hunk, a bi sexual and a gay!! The hunk seems to have taken up with a Posh Spice lookalike whose ambition in life seems to be to be a WAG.
Trooping the Colour last weekend so we had queenie on the box looking ravishing in green, and also lots of stuff on about the end of the Falklands war with Mrs T wheeled out.
Other than that it is raining, naturally, and they have had floods in various places. Looking forward to Wimbledon starting next week, is it??

With Wimbledon starting, then obviously England will again be under water!! OMG, what are you all doing to me - just get used to the idea of going back and then you all hit me with just how wonderful it is (not) ha ha!!!

Sharon, I will keep you up to date with everything when I am over there, you just know how much I love that country so it will all be good news from me!!!!!
