Hi

The dream act if passed will go someway to help children to be able to adjust status to that of a LPR

I feel this act does not go far enough and cannot understand why they want to allow benefit to children up 16 years of age???? why not 21 years of age????

Why make it subject to having studied in the US for 5 years?

Does not make sense to me

Regards Sue

The bill was introduced on November 18th 2005. The text is given at http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s109-2075 This act serves to save the removal of and give adjustment of status to conditional permenent residence to those aliens who entered the US as children. The criteria seems to be that they entered before the age of 16 and have been in the US for five years before enactment of this act. Who knows when that will be. The last bill introduced in 2003 never got through Senate as we know.

My neighbour who is the editor of Celebration Independant newspaper is doing a piece on the Dream Act. He is a member of Rotary which is sponsorring the bill. He thought my son would be covered but unfortunately he was 17 when he came in and wont have been here for five years.
