This is just some of the alcohol police confiscated from youths in Cleethorpes and New Waltham in a single night.
[The haul - confiscated over three weekends - included i.e not confined to:
66 cans of lager
62 bottles of beer
14 bottles of cider
15 bottles of wine
Various alcopops
One bottle of vodka
And what's more, officers say it was a quiet night.
The astonishing haul, including lager, wine, cider and alcopops, found its way into the hands of underage drinkers through a number of channels, including, some said, directly from parents.
Humberside Police have recently been clamping down on underage drinking in our area on the back of a trading standards' investigation into illegal alcohol sales.
As reported in March, trading standards officers found that 33 per cent of licensed premises they tested in North East Lincolnshire had sold alcohol to under 18s.
Patrols have been mounted in Cleethorpes and New Waltham for the last three weeks in response to the problems caused by underage drinkers, which officers say can range from mere annoyance to criminal damage and even violence.
As previously reported, some members of the New Waltham Women's Institute say they are too frightened to go out at night because of youths hanging around, and so their meetings have been changed to the afternoons.
All alcohol confiscated has been destroyed.
Sgt Dave Heard of the Cleethorpes south neighbourhood policing team. said: "These patrols are intended to disrupt the supply of alcohol to the youths and prevent them from getting in a state where they become a danger to themselves or others.
"But the responsibility is not just with the police. The parents and off-licence staff also have a major role to play."
Pc Nigel Powell, neighbourhood officer for Cleethorpes seafront, added: "The problem is not just the young age but the childish nature that is adopted by these youths concerning alcohol. It is at many times like a game to them with no thoughts given to any potential consequences of their actions.
"This is not about stopping fun but the effects of their drunken stupidity on residents and visitors to the area, which is disorderly, intimidating and at times criminal."
Underage drinking is really a big problem, and I personally would like to see the parents questioned, as to why they didn;t know their child was wandering the streets p*ssed as a fart.

I would never let my daughter out after dark without knowing exactly where she was. As for drinking Mr Obi doesn;t, and I only drink occasionally (hardly ever now I'm expecting) so hopefully our little ones will grow up with a more responsible attitude towards drinking alcohol.

I am really lucky with my kids - who have seen first hand what alcohol can do - and refuse to drink anything but soda. They know that I drink rarely, and only with company and never to excess - but if I did I would hear about it from them the next day LOL.
There a re too many parents now who want to be their kids best friend and so do whatever they ask to maintain the "cool" parent label, not realising that parenting is a responsibility that cannot be pushed aside and then they blame everyone else for their "angels" getting into trouble - thats if they actually admit to it in the first place. Normally these idiots will say that their "angels" were framed and are totally innocent little cherubs - Yeh right.:fit:

Your spot on Shelia,
The same goes for taking drugs, not only make the kids pay a fine and community service but make the parents also pay a fine and do community service, teach them a lesson they will not forget in a hurry

So do I. Locals round here reckon they poured coke down the drain for the photos, and then had a good booze up back at the station house. Personally, i'd have sold it off to raise money for whast the overtime cost!!

I am gobsmacked, the parents should be charged with child neglect and also held accountable
Parents and child should get 5 years. Just imagine if she had killed anyone, what about the victims and their familes they after left with a lifetime sentence
