Hi there-
I am here on E2 visa as spouse of main visa holder. I have applied for my EAD and fingers crossed(as nothing is certain) hopefully by end of September I should get it.

I have applied for a position in Financial services industry(over 30+ years experience) which was posted on Monster for over 52 days, as a Senior Mortgage Loan officer.

My question is this- the company knows I have to wait for my EAD, however they seem happy to do this and want me for an interview next week.

How can I go ahead and get something more permanent out of this job? I was thinking that as the job had already been posted for 52 days on Monster, that there might be something in the Labor Cert route... any ideas gratefully received.

I would say it's up to the company, I'd infomr them in writing that you are currently awaiting your paperwork, give them an honest timeline and keep them up to speed.

However I take it you're talking about a sponsored route to GC?

Yes thats right... if I do a good enough job once I start there, how can i get them to sponsor me for GC- what do I have to do first please?

Read this
You have to advertise in the way they set out i.e in lioacl papers and trade journals not monstercom but yes they can sponsor you and that is how we get green cards fro E2 visa holders ( sposue takes employment and gets sponsored) However remember there is a quota and wait can be up to 4 years so you have to keep the E 2b business till then http://www.foreignlaborcert.doleta.gov/perm.cfm

I'd say make sure you do a good job, and ensure they know you'd be interested in that route. If they're willing to hang on for the paperwork, there's a good chance they'd want to keep you!

I've seen posts from people whose companies have stipulations such as must remain with the company for xx years, or face paying the leagl fees plus a fine, might be something to consider.

thanks- if I have already started the job though, is it to late for them to go through this labor /PERM? Like that must take so long that they would'nt want to wait..

Might be an idea to see what the actual process for employers is, and then if it comes to it you can just hand over your findings for your employers perusal. Proves you're really serious about it too. Not sure if it'll be exactly the same for a change of status as bringing someone over specifically.

Got my letter Thursday saying I had my EAD and that the card was in the mail. I applied June 23rd 2007- does it make a difference because I am Canadian- I guess so!
