Very saddened to read this morning that Steve Irwin died after an encounter with a stingray off Batt Reef, Queensland Aus.
At only 44, I have to say that he put himself in danger's way so often that he was always only one step away from a mishap.
He brought a lot of joy to a lot of homes with his passion and his antics involving species that most people wouldn't go within 50 meters of.
I hope that the zoo is able to continue without him and fittingly become a mecca for future generations, if it isn't already.
