View Full Version : Clubs- meeting places in the USA
Hi
Mandybean also mentioned clubs in a posting so thought we could post here
I do not belong to any at the moment but if someone can share where they go and what the club is all about I may like to
Anyway, Not that I go but I read in our local newspaper that #The Pub # on the US 27 holds a Texas Holdem night every wednesday.
Probabley have to play with matchsticks as do not think you can gamble in Florida

Ron,
You have free time?
Seriously, for a lot of folks who have kids, schools and sports activities can take up an awful lot of time (and money). The upside is that there can be a social side to it for the parents.
My wife and I are both members of the Osceola County Chamber of Commerce and whilst that is business focussed, they have 'business after hours' where the food and alcohol is there if you want it. We go to some of them and we have met quite a good few people. Our local Area Council (mini Chamber) is our main focus as its within our community and its been good to us from a business standpoint, but above all we made some good friends.
Religion is big in the southern states as well, but as a CoE person, there isn't anything local to us and personally I find the US churches a little too quick to want your money (it is big business in the US). I prefer to do my praying wherever.
Whilst a drinker, can't say that I frequent the pubs in Osceola County. They all seem a bit, how can I put this - 'the Brit abroad', maybe a bit Blackpoolish (soory iof anyone comes from Blackpool), but you know what I mean - artificial. I also don't like wall to wall TV's showing sports programs.
