Basically, its illegal to hire an illegal immigrant or to rent a property for them.

Hopefully this should help out legal immigrants by giving them more credance. Hopefully, that is. As par for the course the ACLU are going to fight it. If its successful, I wonder if other cities will adopt similar ordanances.

I'm not entirely convinced it will do any good. It would just push illegal immigrants around and probably push them even more underground, flourish the illegal occupations market.

A lot of towns have the same thing...we don't on the Cape...but if you hire someone who can't speak English you'll lose custom...you can be given a job without papers but they have to be shown within 3 days...if not you are fired...people ask outright if someone is legal...and they will report you...the police had illegal spitting in their coffee here when family members hired them..so the police are not happy bunnies when it comes to illegals....the other thing is cost keeps them away...and no work in the winter time....

Hi

Thanks for sharing

I agree, if they make it illegal to employ illegal immigrants then technically there should be more work for legals.

But wonder what happens if the Guest worker progame is passed into Law, then

The illegals can then go back to the same firm that illegally employed them !

Goodness me, I have really confused myself now, and could not get my head round this if I had a drink or two

What is that saying # Peter, Pipper, picked a ?? # what children try to say quickly without making a mistake ??

Sue

You have really done it now.

I know what you mean about Peter, Piper, but it is doing my head in because

I cannot think of the words to it.

Please someone put me out of my misery

If Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

Hi

Thanks Kris,

Cannot remember it that way but maybe there are different versions

As Bobby says you have too much time on your hands it would be fun if you could come up with a full length immigration version

Any takers? sorry not me, hopeless at poems at school, always copied one from a book

Here is another version...

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers;
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked;
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
How many peppers did Peter Piper pick?

peck (pk)
a traditional unit of volume, formerly used for both liquids
and solids but now used mostly for dry commodities such as
grains, berries, and fruits. A peck is 2 gallons, 8 quarts,
or 1/4 bushel. In the U. S. customary system, a peck holds
537.605 cubic inches or approximately 8.8098 liters. In the
British imperial system, a peck is a little larger, holding
554.84 cubic inches or approximately 9.0923 liters. The word
"peck", originally spelled "pek", comes from the name of a
similar old French unit; the origin of the French unit is
not known.

Hi Punky

Thanks for posting. Getting back to your post, I agree employers should be fined for employing illegals.

It is amazing just how a thread can change, and brighten up my day
