Hiya Kitty,
A crop is where people get together, usually in a scrapbook store and work on their scrapbooks, the atmosphere is social, we have themed our as pajama parties before and coco and slippers parties. Everyone can use the stores tools and the store is there for stock needed in the albums, You get the store owners (ie me and my mum) expertise and have a good laugh!
we run coffee mornintg crops and midnight crops, we are also going to host a crop till you drop night near xmas.

Emma, did you know, or were you involved in, scrap-booking in the UK before you went over there to buy the business ?
I ask because, although scrapbooking is BIG business now in the USA having really caught on with 'ladies who are fulfilled' in recent yearas it is only now getting taken up in the UK - and I have a feeling that most ladies in the Uk won't have the time available to need to feel that 'fulfilled' !
Now family history - that's different, that is also MONSTER business over here - but that is largely the province of the 'silver haired' brigade (like me) who are retired and have the time to trace their family roots.
But that's not scrapbooking - not quite the same at all.

Hiya Pete,
Yes i was a big 'scrapper' in the UK, I have many books and have won competitions for my work, it is still reletively unknown in the Uk but i am working with a forum network to try and increase the hobby in the UK. we do also actively help people with geneology, working with old photos and using acid and lignin free products to try and reduce damage done to the photos in the old fashioned sticky albums!!!
It is very big biz over here, a 4.2billion dollar industry at the moment!
Dont know if i would be able to open a store in the UK tho if my E2 is denied, everything is manufactured in the US, its a pricey business in the UK at the moment.
also the demographic of 'scrappers' doesnt tend to be the older/retired generation, its Mums with school aged children that make up 82% of the scrapbook stores income!
My son is 3 in decmeber and has 4 scrapbooks completed, I think that makes me obsessed
