YOUR AGE BY EATING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but your waiter may know!

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute . Work this out as you read . Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat.
(more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1757 .... If you haven't, add 1756.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(I.e., how! Many times you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2007) IT WILL EVER WORK

Not spooky, just very clever Maths! I'm going to send this one to my work mates for a try as well

Hi munish,

Can you explain to me how this works for everyone I cannot see how it can, but it did work for me too

It's a Mathematical trick that works (rather than spooky or magic) because one of the things you have to input is your birth year - that is the part of the formula which ensures you get your age. The other part is the fact you have 1757 or 1756 depending on whether or not you already had your birthday this year so it's requires some level of manipulation here too.

As for the number of times you got out to eat, that is the number you started with. Using all the above figures, it ensures you get the end result it claims.

I strongly believe this formula did not come out by accident (or may be it did), but some mathematical whizz (may be a lecturer or talented student) was the person who worked it out (or stumbled across it when trying to work something else out).

Something to do with the year 2007 and the fact you can only pick up to number 7...?

it works, how cool is that? the person who found this out must be very clever, very bored or both

Cool, interesting how things like this work

Does this make me a super mathematician ... In part 5 change the 1757 to 1758 and the 1756 to 1757. Do the trick again and then you can change the "THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2007) IT WILL EVER WORK" to "(2008)" :p

Enjoy.
