Hi

Would anyone who has obtained a B visa then purchased a business share in this thread if this is the way they came to the USA

I have been doing some research on the subject and would like to know if anyone has done this and was the application to change from B to E sucessful

Also, if you did this did you buy business contingent on visa approval?

Hi Susie

I came to the US on a B visa. I had no intention of doing an in-country change of status when I arrived but I was able to start up my business sooner than expected. As a result of that, I applied for in-country change of status to E2 through premium processing and got approval within 15 days.

I invested in a start up business and so I did not have a purchase contract with a clause that my investment would be contingent upon visa approval...but you would be well advised to have this clause if your circumstances are such that you're entering into a contract with a business owner.

Do you already have B2 and if so, how did you get it? The Embassy is not renowned for giving them out without a fuss!

Hi Susie, We came over on B2 and bought a business contingent on E2 approval ,we fast tracked our application through Texas and had approval within 15 days but didnt realise we only had E2 status and not a visa (our visa co neglected to tell us that) so now we have applied to London and after 2 requests for further information and our visa co disappearing we are starting the London process again (after nearly 12 months). If we had not fast tracked we would not be here now. I would recommend to anyone buying a business over here make sure it is contingent on visa approval, after all if the visa is denied how on earth are you going to run the business.

As you are located in Sarasota....and your visa co has 'disappered' .....I would be interested to know (even privately) which company you used. I can tell you why privately if need be.
