Why does bad luck always come in waves?
Just over three weeks ago, our lovely Old English Sheepdog little girl had a stroke... after trying a few things we knew the only thing left was to have her put to sleep... she couldn't walk, so I had to carry her into the vets... it was awful.
Then her brother (we've had them both since puppies) went for his booster today and the vet noticed he's got an enlarged testicle..... possibly testicular cancer.. so we're just hoping, that after castration, he'll be ok.
Can't cope with losing both of them, not just yet...:miserable:

Know how you feel we had our darling old engish sheepdog bono for 14 years He did have testicular cancer and after his castration he did live for another year
I think in the end he just died of old age he was just the best, and we said we would never get another dog but living here and having no family
we now have 2 english bulldogs both are resue dogs and they bring joy into our lives every day , but we will never forget our bono if fact we even bought his ashes with us and they are burried in our yard here so he will always be with us
so i am thinking of you now and I hope everything works out

I give up on pets....we never planned on stay in the USA for more than a few years...now I'm used to the freedom having no pets brings....I could not leave pets behind again...so unless I get that log cabin in the mountains and live there so I can get a new sled dog team...we'll only have fighting fish in this house...

It is very very sad when a pet dies, they are part of the family and just like having a child around, innocent, loving and trusting, so sad when they pass away

I so sorry to hear your news. I agree your pets are so important. I have just purchased another puppy to go with my very large puppy. We have just got a cavapoo and his so cute, and loves our long haired shepherd.
I hope the vet can do something to help

My Bonnie passed over to the "rainbow bridge" in June. Had her for 18 years and miss my baby girl. Glad we didn't bury here here though - had her cremated and got a very pretty Pet urn so we can take her with us when we leave.

Thanks for all your good wishes..
On a lighter note, I thought I'd share my 'darling' son's reaction......when I told him we might have to have Billy castrated...
"What's he going to lick????"

Animals are such resilient and brave creatures. We had a 11 year old English Cocker who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1994, hubby and I hate needles, but we gaver her insulin every morning and night time. She went blind, but as long as you never moved the furniture, she knew where everything was. She lived for another 2 years and eventually died of "pieametra" - a type of septicaemia from being in season, so our 2 new creatures also Englsih Cockers were spayed, they are now 11 years old and 9.5 respectively!!
We are thankful for every day when like tonight, we got the greeting of a lifetime from them!!

Hi Britcan I totally agree with your statement
We are thankful for every day when like tonight, we got the greeting of a lifetime from them!!
When I come home, my dogs greet me always with love and excitement, it is unconditional and I love them to bits. I am sitting in my study now, and the two of them are laying next to me, what would we do with out our pets hey.

I know how you all feel:
.........I took my 5 year old German Shepherd to the vets the other day because his lazy eye wasn't getting any better and as the vet carried him over to the table he said,
"I'm going to have to put him down"
I was horrified. "What just because he's got a squint ?" I said.
"No, because he's bloody heavy" replied the vet.
Boom boom, .....and thank you Mr Cooper! The old ones are the best!

Hee Hee!!!!
Our youngest spaniel is so cute. She wakes up every morning and acts like its the first day she has ever woken up. She greets me with a big pink tongue, like a butterflys tongue, reaching for any thing that she can lick!! Then she turns around and bounces like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, she is so excited! Whereas our older lady, is like "ok get out of my face and leave me alone until I have had my rice crispies and milk!"
Its so great, they keep me sane in times when I feel really down!
