It’s Illegal Immigration Stupid! Why McCain and Hillary Will Never Be President
By William Gheen
Americans for Legal Immigration, November 19, 2007
. . .
The next round of polling data will show a dramatic drop in support for the candidacy of Hillary Clinton for President. We know this because of the precedent set by John McCain and Senators Harry Reid, Lindsay Graham, and Trent Lott who all experienced massive drops in their support levels after making the mistake of coming out in favor of assistance for or amnesty for illegal aliens instead of enforcement of our existing immigration laws.

Hillary Clinton will take the “McCain Plunge” because of her recent support for licenses for illegal aliens and subsequent flip-flop on the issue.

By coming out in support of licenses for illegal aliens she has taken a stance that national polling data shows 77% of Americans disagree with! Then by reversing her stance to oppose licenses for illegal aliens, she has angered the 15% of Americans that support the program. All the while, she has shown 100% of Americans that either side of the immigration debate cannot trust her! The results will be a first class campaign killer that will send Hillary’s support numbers down on a deadly spiral similar to the “McCain Plunge” that took him from the first place spot in the GOP Primary to 4th place due to his overt support for “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” which is widely viewed as Amnesty for illegal aliens.

Im sorry i still think she is tipped to win the election.
However she may have recently dug her own grave, allowing 'licenses' otherwise known as greencards for the illegals.
Lets face it, most americans will not admit it, but they hate the fact that immigrants are here legally! that includes us british.
So the thought of the so called licenses for the illegals is going to make their toes curl.
Having said that if Hilary is already been 'lined up' for the next president, votes or no votes there's nothing anybody can do about that.

Everyone said Kerry was lined up to win...I thank the Gods everyday that never happened...we can't have a flip flop in this day and age...Hilary has now proved she is weak by being one...

Its not what Hilary is but what she represents. Not for American people, but for the U.S government.
Think about this, im sure lots of folks on this site and everywhere else know of at least one illegal immigrant, living here in Central Florida and beyond.......
At the moment the U.S government is only getting taxes from that Ilegal immigrant indirectly, ie, gas, cigarettes etc.
Now the U.S NEED to get the taxes from the illegal immigrant Directly,(recession) so the quickesteasiest way to do this, is to make them legal.
This will ( I feel)happen.
What for the people like me, who turn around and say,
'ive done everything proper and paid an attorney for my L1 visa'
bottom line, what can i do about it?
Nothing. Am I going to sue the U.S government? yeah right:rofl:
So if i dont like the fact that they will make the illegals legal, i can always go back to wherever it is i came from. and am i going to do that? NO.
So Hilary, may have become unpopular with the average everyday, Citizen, but not for the U.S govenments agenda she hasnt and that is whats going to get her running for president. Not the peoples votes.

She is NOT going anywhere near WIN.
-Illegals have no vote so they cannot vote.
-Legals on E2 or other visa status have no votes so no big deal if they like her or not.
-LPR can vote but cannot vote for Presidents election ... so no big deal to like her or not like her.
THAT LEAVES USC to decide if she can win or not ... with the economy going down the drain people are p-i-ssed with every thing that takes there jobs and security ... and illegal immigration is a huge point to take all that so thumbs down for her ... plain and simple she is going down from her high horse.
WONT WIN plain and simple.

:D I am not a political pundit but won't be surprised to see her go kaboom:hug:

I wished i had a spare, 100 bucks to bet with you V2002 that she will.
Its not the peoples votes, that count, everyone knows that. We have seen the proof in the pudding, with Bush, favoured again. I think the fact that his brother was the governer of the state of Florida helped the last time;) winning him the last election.
If the government want her there, she will be and not a thing anybodys votes will or can do to prevent that.
E2 visas and L1s and whatever visa you like. It doesnt matter.
What matters is that the american economy is going down the pan and fast.
Lets help this a little by getting taxes of the illegal immigrant, they say.

-Forget BUSH'S every one knows hoe both D &R feel to be associated with them .

If the government want her there, she will be and not a thing anybodys votes will or can do to prevent that.
-Govt says something which they actually never do.

What matters is that the american economy is going down the pan and fast.
- NA that will keep her away from winning. lol.

Lets help this a little by getting taxes of the illegal immigrant, they say.
-ITs a known fact that making illegals legal will not bring in taxes....merely because the majority of them will NOT evan fall under the TAX slab... IT WILL BE A BURDEN than an advantage ... SO
matter of fact NO HILLY BILLY.:D

Hilary Clinton has got the biggest hurdle ever to overcome, which she never will, and that is ,she is a woman, this has got to be the most sexist country anywhere, and I seriously cannot see them ever electing a woman for president, wont happen, and plus she has blown it anyway by wanting to give the ilegals licenses, and that is a great excuse for her not to get in,trust me,I am a doctor, and if the bet is still on count me in:D

I've been here 13 years legally and NEVER EVER felt hated by Americans for being here. The average American really has no clue about immigrants (legal or otherwise).

What are your experiences that lead you to think this way?

I've never had any trouble in 8 years...I thought it was maybe different if you live in a place with many Brits...but I have great American friends in FL...

I agree Liz, I've never ever felt unwelcome in my chosen country...in fact the total and complete opposite - being made to feel (and actually welcomed) to the country at every turn by the American public.

I also agree with Dee - I dont think its anything to do with her politics (on which I'll leave others to debate), but I dont think the country is ready for a woman president just yet...nor do I think Obama will get in as I dont think the country is ready for a black president either....I WILL STRESS HERE - THIS IS NOT A RACIST COMMENT....and certainly in no reflection of my personal view (which incidentally is that I couldnt care less who governs...what race, color, sex or sexual pursuation) as long as they do a good job...but just my view on how the American people (and government) will go. Now either of them may win the party vote...but the national election - no way!

Disclaimer - Just IMHO ;) ;)

Incidentally, the only illegal immigrants I personally know of are British, I keep my distance because of that fact. One in particular flaunts the fact that they have hoodwinked the authorities:td:

Can't say I know any...did have one Brit guy try to tell me he was going to live here illegal...told him I was friends with an INS officer and he soon dropped the subject...never saw him at an hockey game again....and saw the lady he was dating with someone new....

Personally I think that she may get in simply because they want Bill back - despite Monica, he is still the most respected and loved US president since JFK. Just IMHO though. I actually prefer Obama

While these presidential hopefuls bash it out about all the policy they will make. Has anyone ever had this thought, Presidents don't make laws. The senators and congressmen do. So I don't understand why they promise all this change, they have no control over it.

For Democrats, a Strained Debate on Immigration

By ADAM NAGOURNEY and JEFF ZELENY
Published: December 4, 2007

DES MOINES, Dec. 4 — If there is one issue that has perplexed presidential candidates from both parties in Iowa this year, it is immigration. The Democratic presidential contenders were confronted with it an unusual way at a debate here this afternoon: Should an American citizen turn in someone they know to be an illegal immigrant?

The answer, for most of the candidates, in the end, was no. But the question, presented in various forms during a two-hour National Public Radio debate, produced strained conversation as the candidates sought to balance conflicting emotions and political forces on an issue that looms both in the coming caucuses and primaries and in the general election.

“We are not going to deputize a whole bunch of American citizens to start grabbing people or turning them in,” said Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, who was the first to answer the question at the debate, the first this year staged without a television camera in the room. “The ordinary American citizen may not know whether or not this person is illegal or not.”
:fit:
Mr. Obama, followed by other Democrats, argued, that tracking down illegal immigrants was the job of the government. But the moderators — sometimes playing taped questions from listeners — pressed the candidates on what they suggested were inconsistencies during a debate that promised an extended discussion on just three topics: Immigration, Iran and China.

“If a citizen witnessed some other kind of crime, wouldn’t you want them to report it?” Steve Inskeep of NPR asked Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York after she said that did not think that citizens should be “enforcing the broken laws of our federal immigration system.
:fit::fit::fit::fit::fit:
“It’s a very clever question, Steve, but I think it really begs the question,” Mrs. Clinton responded. “What we’re looking at here is 12 to 14 million people — they live in our neighborhoods, they take care of our elderly, they probably made the beds in the hotels that some of us stayed in last night. They are embedded in our society. If we want to listen to the demagogues and the calls for us to being to round up people and turn every American into a suspicious vigilante, I think we will do graver harm to the fabric of our nation than any kind of person-by-person reporting of someone who might be here illegally.”

Representative Dennis Kucinich of Ohio said, “ We don’t encourage vigilantism in this country.” :fit::fit::fit:

As the conversation continued, Mr. Inskeep repeatedly asked John Edwards, the former North Carolina senator, whether workers who were in the country illegally were driving down wages.

“Well, I think what the studies show is there are a lot of things driving down wages in the United States of America,” Mr. Edwards said. A few minutes later, Mr. Obama offered a clearer response: “I believe that there are circumstances where, in fact, illegal immigrants are driving down wages.”

“The question is: How do we fix it?” he asked. Because, often times, when it’s posed that way, then the thinking is that somehow we have to pit low-wage American workers versus low-wage immigrant workers.”

And Senator Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut suggested, in response to a question, that Americans should face penalties for knowingly hiring nannies or other domestic workers who are in the country illegally.

“People who knowingly hire undocumented workers I think need to be held accountable to a far higher degree of penalties — civil and possibly criminal,” Mr. Dodd said. :D :D :D REALLY :D :D :D

The Democratic candidates all assailed President Bush for saying he still considered Iran a threat, even though a new National Intelligence Assessment that asserted that Iran stopped pursuing nuclear weapons in 2003. Mrs. Clinton came under attack for voting for a Congressional resolution that declared the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization, a position that she alone embraced among the Democratic candidates.

Mrs. Clinton stood by the vote, arguing it was a tough diplomatic approach that had already lead to changes in behavior by Iran. “None of us is advocating a rush to war,” she said. “I think we have two different ways of approaching this. Our goals are the same: Diplomatic engagement with Iran.”

Her opponents said the vote empowered Mr. Bush to take the country to war, and expressed incredulity at her position. “Declaring a military group sponsored by the state of Iran a terrorist organization, that’s supposed to be diplomacy? “ Mr. Edwards said. “This has to be considered in the context that Senator Clinton has said she agrees with George Bush terminology that we’re in a global war on terror.”
