Just introduced myself so here goes with my first request for your opinions.
Having read lots of horror stories about bad businesses and scams what is your advice for making as sure as you possibly can that you dont get conned. Could anyone please pm me with names of reputable business brokers, immigration attornies. Also do you also need an accountant for the due diligence part? The type of business we are interested in is pools or if a retail business something pet related since that is hubbys business here. But again we are open to other businesses as well.
We are currently very open minded about which part of Florida we end up in so any opinions about good / bad areas re cost of living etc?

Thank you so much for your help

Welcome
A good business broker should be able to set you up with the right accountant and attorney
Use one who is in the area you want to relocate.
I know many all over Florida and could recommend but to say you will locate anywhere is not helpful. Florida is as big as the United Kingdom!!! There are millions of businesses for sale all over
Be more specific and we may be able to help

Welcome :)

Are you saying your hubby has his own business in the UK? If so, have you looked into the L1 visa? I believe that route is preferable to E2, not least because it can lead to a green card.

Hi and a warm :welcome: to our site

Your right about scammers and scams and you canoot be too careful. As Peter says a lot will depend on what type of business you wish to buy and where. It maybe that your flexible as to the area you wish to live. Bit like chicken and egg situation.

But do check out the credentials of any attorney and that they are a member of a bar assn and The American Immigration lawyers assn. www.bestlawyer.com and www.aila.org

Do you find the business first , then a home to live in, or do you choose the area and home where you want to live and then look fo r a business in that area.

Of course a lot will depend on the amount of available funds you have too but from what you have said you appear to own a uk company so an L visa seems the best option, if your uk biz qualifies.

You have the option to do a start up biz whether applying for an E or L visa. What does your uk company do? and what interests do you have that could be used in a biz?

By all means pm me your contact details if you would like a chat
