221g info on Embassy Website

Applicants who are advised at the time of their interview that action on their application has been suspended under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act are required to allow 10 - 15 days for their application to be processed once they submit the missing documents to the Embassy.


Whether they'll stick to this who knows but certainly better than going to the bottom of the pile as previously feared.

What I cannot understand is

If the embassy knows the application is going to be suspended under 221g at time of interview, why book an interview ?

Why don't they tell you beforehand they are suspending your case, that gives you time to get together any information they need. Then just book the interview for approval, or not bother to have an interview at all if the paperwork is in order.

No idea - with Redsox they told him what he needed, with Emma they haven't.

I can understand if it they come to that conclusion during the interview itself but if they've previously decided this it just seems to be a waste of their time - not to mention the poor applicant.

Hiya, They told my VA that they would tell him what we needed, then they said they wouldnt, he has demanded that they tell him as they previously offered. so we shall see, have a meeting with my VA next week so will let you all know how that goes.

Can the embassy refuse to tell the IA what paperwork they want ? I don't suppose the IA can force them to can they?

What if you werent told at the interview and then you got an email the next day stating your J1 visa was suspended under the 221g immigration act. ive been asked to send a ds-157 form which i have completed and returned but just wondered if the expected time frame is the same.
