Following on from the meeting at Sue's home....I thought it would be a good idea to have topic's for different States or areas in the US...maybe small to start off with..New England...West Coast...Mid West...etc...breaking down to States as more members join around the USA...I will IM a few people Monday or Tuesday who I would like to talk too about this ...but if anyone from outside FL wishes to spend some time finding out info for their area please come forward in IM...I think admin would over see it to start with...but maybe later if more people join from outside FL...we could find mods for each State or area....we would have to talk to Sue about that one...any ideas would be very welcome...its not easy to get something like this going...even people who have run forums for years have found State topics slow to take off...but its worth giving it a go I think...
We could maybe add an area for people still in the UK...??

I'm happy to join in - but I suspect I'll be "Billy no mates "for a while .
Nice one Inn Vic, well done for helping
With your magistrates experience, just threaten to hit nasty people over the head with your hammer !

So does anyone have any idea about the best way to start...and what info is needed for each area...do you think we should have a Vermont and Mass topics now...or just New England splitting it later when we have more members in those areas....do we have anyone from anywhere else...?

I think you're probably best sticking to a "New England" site given that I agree that other forums find this tricky to keep going with people gravitating back to the general board whilst the state boards remain deathly silent.
I'm in NYC but havent seen anything from anyone else in the area (even though randomly I live on a street with a number of english famillies - NYC seems to be L, HIB & Greencard heavy but a dearth of Es...) Redsocks is off to the MidWest. Probably little point setting up boards for those states unless you're aware of anyone else here/there?

never threatened with violence..... but a nice long custodial sentence seemed to do the trick :-)
With regard to people outside of Florida perhaps we could just have a "NOT in Florida" board.
I am curious what issues relative to individual states would merit a separate site. Obviously the "come to my house for a party" thing in Florida is of little relevance to anyone outside of Florida - but we're all a little far apart to have our own social clubs :-) Kriz - what sort of topics did you have in mind?

So New England for now...topics..local news items which maybe of no interest outside your State....I've found a piece about kids not being deported from MA when they reach 21...losted that when I reformed my PC...local help for new people in your area...Home Ins...car Ins...taxes....places to visit..house prices...where to buy funiture....is your State a place you would rec others to move too....stuff like that....??

Hi Kris and Inn Vic
Thanks for your efforts we need active members in different states to start spreading the word
How far apart do you two live?

I think its about 200 miles, slow roads across country and 2 states! :-) So sadly don't think we'll be meeting up for coffee mornings anytime soon!
Hi Inn Vic and Kris
How about meeting up at the 100 mile point ?
Where would that be?

What Ron? You want us to meet you?
Seriously I'm sure that if I were ever in Cape Cod or Kriz were ever in South Vt then we would meet up - but I'm sure I can speak for both of us by saying that 100miles on roads up here is a LONG way to go for a coffee and a chat - no matter how pleasant....we could of course always talk on the phone if there were anything pressing. My phone number is easy enough to find :-)

I have an evil plan to stay at Innvic's place more towards spring time....
The weather from now on can be bad...wind storms like we are having right now.....snow...ice...its not that easy to travel unless you really need too...
Once we have a few idea's to talk about and more people in New England...then we can have a chat on the phone...
Right now in this area...its a busy time of year...getting the house ready for winter can take most of fall....I would love to have a free weekend to stay in Innvic's beautiful place....but it'll have to wait...we up up to our armpit with replacing storm doors and shingles...

...and I'm collapsed in a heap after feeding and watering a gazillion "leaf peepers".....off next week to mexico for some well earned R&R (and maybe a new extended I-94 if we're lucky!)
Springs a great time here, often refered to as "the mud months" but in fact glorious as the new spring starts to emerge and the buds on trees and the warm sun melts the snow...but don't tell everyone...we need to have some "quiet time" :-)

I got the impression that you may have a "goth/bike" side :-) If you've signed up for the newsletter just wait till you see the pics of our halloween party!! I think your daughter will approve :-) Personally, old(er) rock chick type here (a bit heavy for spandex anymore though...tend to stick to LLBean these days!)) and we do have a bike. The Victorian theme is great for business, you know how the Americans love anything with any history...and we are slowly getting away from the pink chinz and dried flowers that was in abundance when we bought. maybe in mid renovation in April ..but we have loads of rooms and would of course compensate for any inconvenience.

I was born a biker...our David was one of Englands first Hells Angels...he was a roadie for the Beatles....my Uncles all had bikes...one opened the first Gay biker cafe in Bristol many years ago...
My daughter's never been a goth but she like a lot of the clothes...she is really into tats...my kids are not really into bikes...our biker life style was for outside the home....I wanted my kids to have a normal up bringing...not that it shows...LOL...we did take them away with us for biker weekends sometimes...
We have our Harley in the US...but it needs a lot of work...
Your house is lovely...I will be showing it to all the people I know....
