I read your article with great interest and yes it did open my eyes a great deal
Just felt I had to right to you though about the lack of compassion for legal immigrants
My late husband and I set up a forum to help immigrants who wished to live the dream the legal way. www.expatsvoice.org We are a grassroots group wishing to amend the INA to petition for a compassionate visa on a case by case basis, subject to documentary evidence
Sadly when a visa holders dies, the spouse is immediately illegal. They can inherit the business, pay tax on the inheritance, yet the day their spouse dies they are illegal
Also many legal children have no status upon reaching 21years of age unless they are bright enough to obtain a student visa. They have entered the USA as legal dependents, many from a young age yet if they have learning difficulties have to leave the USA
If you can help our group in any way with writing a book about are experiences, please contact me via the website
Warmenst regards Sue
