 After reading about specialist prices and recently investigating health insurance for 4 of us and nearly passing out at the cost, are there any recommendations for good companies? I've had a couple of quotes but after the first paragraph my mind is thinking about what to cook for dinner they are so dull and you might as well be reading another language.
The two I've have carry a high deductable ($5000) and cost a second mortgate each month - in my opinion not really worth having. I've tired via the Chamber of Commerce in Orlando and our broker who does our car/house. I knew it was expensive here but hadn't really bargained on the prices I am being quoted. It is certainly something to consider when moving here.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Debbie

just a quick note ,if you have school age children you can get their shots free at the local health Dept(check first as some may vary) you just pay $40 each for their blue card filled out.
i think my GP was charging approx $160 for same service

Thanks Reecey
We had ours done at the Osceloa Dept of Health where they did the shots for free AND the blue card. This is the only thing since coming here 2 years ago that we haven't had to pay for.
And yes, I know I've neglected the health insurance issue, should have done something about it when we got here but at $1400 a month (cheapest quote) I think I would be better putting the money under the mattress.

i know what you mean my hubbys workmate and wife with 2 children (all american)were paying $1600 per month and they had a $75 deductable and when they took son to Docs the receptionist told them if they went through insurance it was $75 if they just paid cash it was $40!!!! so they decided they would be better stashing it instead, but I think your better having a higher deductable and cheaper rate "you never know"

Hiya,
Its cheaper to get insurance by putting it thru the business, we got a quote for 2 adults and 1 child for $650 pm thru a business broker...only a $10 copay at docs, 50% discount off prescriptions and a $1000 pa deductable!!

Hi Em
I'm interested in getting health insurance through my business so could you let me have the details of the broker you used?
Thanks
Sarah
