After the initial heart stopping pre-interview where husband was told he should have brought a sheaf of papers (rather than the one document requested on the Embassy email invite) & was about to be turned away he was called by the E2 Visa Officer & it all went swimmingly.

Apparently she couldn't have been nicer - intelligent, friendly, polite & well informed. She'd clearly read all of the documents, asked a few questions but certainly not the grilling we expected. Visa approved for 2 years.

Feel like we've been through the mill but such a relief that it's all over for now.
Good Luck to all of you who are still waiting..

Thanks to listening to me fret over the last few months & for your helpful replies.

surely not Sally - isn't London speeding up - I'm sure they'll be turning them round in 24 hours with a free flight back to the US by the time we apply...

Redsox - another start up - got his a couple of weeks ago so looks as though they still have some of their annual quota left to hand out thank goodness.

Well Done.
It sounds like they are using extra staff as well now. I have now heard of a man and woman interviewing, which is at least a step up from M.O. doing a solo.
Congrats once again.

Hi.

Fantasic.

Many congratulations, must be a great relief. It is a shame that she did not approve 5 years. I wonder why they are only giving 2 year renewals, maybe it is all about the costs to renew

I can feel a celebration coming on, :) :)

It wasn't a renewal - it was a new application for a start up - she said only giving 2yrs to start ups (though Emma said she'd heard of a 5) but that if we stick to the business plan she couldn't see why we wouldn't get a 5 on our renewal

Oop's, silly me

Got myself all confused with Em's post

Did the embassy say why you only got a 2 year approval ?

Thanks all - you're all so kind. Have to say my parents who are currently out here on holiday are gutted. Heard them this morning on the phone to my sister saying my husband had got his E2 for 2 years and that if he's 'lucky' he'll get another one for 5 in a falsely bright isn't that nice voice. I think they had been secretly hoping the Embassy would throw us out!! How do your famillies cope?

Grumpy - I'm already here, have been for years - on an H1B. Husband (exhausted his 6 yrs on an H & then decided he wanted to set up a company here) will be on the next flight out as soon as he has his passport - has a huge presentation for a potential client that he's desperate not to miss hence my plaintive posts about how long does it take to get your passport back - we're never happy!!
