Oh Sheila, I could really go for a hot tub right about now LOL. Last night i was given my first golf lessons, and surprised myself and the coach that I hit so many balls - but now I am paying for it with an aching body LOL.

Cheeky! Luckily there was only one other couple on the driving range - and they were learners too. Hey At least the balls I hit went in a straight line! ;) :p

why would you celebrate independance FROM THE BRITISH!
If it wasn't for that we'd all have the right to stay here! ;)

it means you should follow local customs, eat local food, try to fit in where you are.

We shall be running round like headless chickens, as we get married on the 5th!

On the subject of the celebrations, and not trying to open a can of wrigglies here - what's the feeling like over there about the British celebrating it, and how does everyone feel about it - given that as expats you technically agree to fit in with your destination's customs?

I dont think it causes any probs !!! certainly not the Events we have been to whilst living here.
If people dont want to join in ,they can always stay at home or go to work !!!!!;)

All our American neighbours have invited us to there celebrations and they all love the british. We joke about the 4th July and they love the sense of humour.

Hi,

I agree - we've never had a problem and all our American friends have always included us in their plans.
For first timers, the Celebration extraveganza (spl?) is something to see for sure and a great fireworks display.

We'll be over on the coast sailing (ironic that a sailor spends his leisure time on yet another boat!! eh) So we'll be partying like the rest of 'em, and watching the fireworks (probably) over Longboat Key.

Have a great time all.

We still celebrate it in the same way that non believer celebrate Christmas, basically any excuse for a party! Citywalk has a do this year as well and there is on in Lake Eola Park in Orlando for those not down Celebration way.

We always used to party with our American friends in their home - any excuse for a party was their motto. I remember the first year when Daniel & Jan were over and they made a great big American Flag cake for them - brilliant people - we will miss them this year!
