Hi
You can walk into any drivers licence testing place and should be able to pick up a highway code book there
To get an American driving licence you will need to prove your legal status such as Green card, passport, I 94 etc.,
There is an online test for the highway code, eyesight test and driving test
Good luck

Hiya.
You can view the Florida Hiway Code online here. (http://www.lowestpricetrafficschool.com/handbooks/driver/en) The official site of Florida's equivilent of the DVLA is here. (http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/hsmvindex.html)
To get your license, it's pretty straightforward. You book an appointment (or just turn up, but appointment booking is highly recommended). First thing you have is an eye exam. You then take a written test. If you pass that, then you will take a practical. You need your own hire car for that. If you pass that, you have a license.
Do note though, your license will onlt be valid for as long as your visa is valid for. If you come in ona visa waiver, this will only be 3 months. However, you don't need to take your test again.
Hope that helps :)

Hello Everyone,
Just found your forum thanks to the Florida Home Owners Forum. My family and I have purchased a business on Longboat Key in Florida, our E2 visa application has been in for about 6 weeks now. Are they really taking as much as 18 weeks at the moment?
Neil
Hi NMC 2002
Welcome, please update us how your application is going
The embassy is taking quite a time lately you would think that as you are investing money and creating employment they would rush these application through
Hope you are buying a boat business, then we can all go a-cruising for our first expats meet up!

Yes I am afraid they are and that is presupposing you get approved without any requests for further evidence. Some people have been going backwards and forwards with further evidence and then waiting again for months,up to a year or more in some cases. It all depends on how good a business it is and how good a job your visa consultant has done and moreover whether he has prepared the application to this particular E2 officers taste. Truth be told it is more difficult to get E2 than it was 18 months ago and two years is now the norm wheras it used to be five so it is getting harder.
Longboat Key is lovely, I could envy you living there.
