CE arrests 40 illegal aliens working at Palm Coast construction site
Arrests part of ICE’s worksite enforcement mission
PALM COAST, FL – Forty illegal aliens working on a construction site here were arrested Tuesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents.
The illegal aliens, all men, were employed by various sub-contracting companies working at the Ocean Towers construction site located on 3 Ocean Crest Drive, Palm Coast, Florida.
Three of those arrested re-entered the country after being deported. Re-entry after deportation is a prosecutable felony offense that carries a possible 25-year prison sentence. All three cases have been accepted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida. The three men are in U.S. Marshals custody awaiting the outcome of their criminal cases.
The remaining 37 men were placed in removal proceedings for being in violation of U.S. immigration laws. All were transferred to various ICE facilities in Florida.
Those arrested represent the following countries: Honduras, Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico and Peru.
“Companies that use cheap, illegal alien labor as a business model should be on notice,” said Robert W. Weber, special agent-in-charge in Tampa. “ICE is dramatically enhancing its enforcement efforts against illegal employment schemes."
This enforcement action was part of the Secure Border Initiative (SBI), a comprehensive multi-year plan launched by the Department of Homeland Security to secure America’s borders and reduce illegal migration. Under SBI, Homeland Security seeks to gain operational control of both the northern and southern borders, while re-engineering the detention and removal system to ensure that illegal aliens are removed from the country quickly and efficiently. SBI also involves strong interior enforcement efforts, including enhanced worksite enforcement investigations and intensified efforts to track down and remove illegal aliens inside this country.
-- ICE --
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was established in March 2003 as the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. ICE is comprised of four integrated divisions that form a 21st century law enforcement agency with broad responsibilities for a number of key homeland security priorities.
What I cannot understand is how one one hand the lawmakers are trying to document illegals yet on the other hand are determind to dpeot illegals and fine employers for employing them, up to $10,000.00
Just does not add up to me, all these illegals were marching and demanding human rights, and what do the USCIS and police do, ignore the protests when they had an ideal oppotunity to send in the National guard, round them all up and deport them
Ahhhhhhhhh
