View Full Version : Obama's Safety

Paul Elliott

Given America's history, recent and remote, a worry: what if Mr. Obama becomes America's First Black assassinated President? However many people are covering Bush's ass, they had better double the detail and not with a load of hip hop, break dancing enthusiastic amateurs but with hard eyed, no nonsense professionals. If he is taken out, God help everyone on this earth.
I will pray for his safety, phony, liberal zero that he is.

Public behaviour, whether nutters or the chattering classes will speak volumes to the world about the people of America NOT the politicians.

I actually believe he will need a lot of protection even before he makes it to his swearing in ceremony... seriously he is a big target right now.

His security guys need to be re-trained !!!!! My son and I went to the rally in Orlando he held with Hilary Clinton last month, we waited for hours then they must of realised at the last minute not everyone was going to get in so they dismantled the barriers, the airport scanner type security was pushed aside to let the crowds flood in, we were within 100ft of them both on the stage and we had not been checked, now anyone in that crowd could of had a gun they propbably wouldnt of got away but thats not the point the damage potential was huge for such important people so they had better improve !!

BTW it was interesting to see how people reacted to their speeches and we only went as it was our last day and my son wanted to tell his mates he had been in the company of the next president of America

Are you kidding? They ARE the ones who not only have the experience in gun-use (and won't think twice about using them); they HAVE the Uzis and such like. Take a day trip to Jacksonville and you'll see them training at gas stations and convenience stores. :(

I'm sure I read - some weeks back now that - given his epidermal attribute, ahem - he was already under the Presidential-Level of protection.

I heard an interview with David Whateverhisnameis, Arch Grand Carbuncle of the KKK, where he was urging White Supremacists to vote for Obama and get him elected. That, he felt, would bring this whole race nastiness to a head and serve his purpose.

I can see your a "glass half empty" type guy Paul. Not so, I am very much the reverse. Unlike the majority of posters on this forum, I have lived, worked and had my being under 3 black Presidents and the sun still rises each morning. One of those Presidents was Mandela: history will decide that his major contribution to history was his decision to retire voluntarily from the job - almost unheard of in Africa. The second was Mbeki who served one term and was re-elected to another term only to be removed [ constitutionally ] from office by his own party. One of the reasons for his removal, apparently, was that he coveted a further 3rd term in defiance of the constitution. He went quietly. We now have this new guy whose name I can never pronounce and a general election in 6 months which may issue in another, one Jacob Zuma. This is all very healthy and with Mandela's example before them, it will become harder and harder as the years pass and the Presidents come and go {lawfully one hopes} for a would be tyrant to establish himself, as has happened in Zimbabwe.
If I were a "glass half empty" guy, I would never have lasted 33 years here. Africa is no place for sissies.
By the way, last night, I DID pray for Obama.

Do I detect closet Republican, white supremacist remarks in this continuing thread. If that is the case, I will depart now. If this was meant for me, please note there is nothing closet about me: I am a Royalist, a Tory, a believer and my dislike of racism is only surpassed by my contempt for almost all members of the "anti racism industry" in which I include, Jesse Jackson and Desmonde Tutu. I also abominate liberalism. Clear enough?

I don't think it has ever gone away...I've seen reports in small local newspapers online of church burnings that have been going on for years..

As far as I know there is no law that says you can't be a Republican .. closet or otherwise...

I also don't see any white supremacist remarks..just people views...if you feel there is a white supremacist remark here that you are unhappy with then report it in PM to admin...
I have read the topic a few times to see if I can see the problem...but none jump out at me..

Very interesting thead this, the race card will always raise its ugly head now there is a black president,Obama got 98% of the African /American vote and 68% of the Hispanic vote !!!In the area I live which is predominantly Hispanic there was about 1 Mcain/Palin sign, what I fear is that this guy will be doomed before he sets off,the people who have voted for him are expecting changes overnight, and that is not going to happen, regardless of the colour of his skin,I want now to see him put his money were his mouth is,and yes he has already had 2 attemtps on his life !!!!If you listened to his speech on election night and looked around the crowds it was amazing, however like it or not the guy in his speech, covered his a**e twice, once by saying it might take years to get things right, which he didnt say throughout his campaign, and he has already played the race card hisself, read or watch the speech ,you will see what I mean, and on a last note, who thinks Michelle Obama will make a good first lady?I think she is too full of herself, but we will see, good thread.

Omg, you would think he had been voted in over here - the news, newspapers etc are full of it and they keep mentioning the B word!

I am in contact with American friends of ours who are divided in their thinking, some think he is the messiah, others think they may as well don a turban. I must admit I don't quite see it as that. Dee, you mentioned (and is a good valid point) that people are expecting change overnight - no way will that happen -not even if a Republican had got in - the downward slide is happening and there is no miracle cure whoever is President. Everybody has got to work together to get things back on track - over here they have cut the Base Rate by 1.5 per cent but the greedy bankers (have I said that right), apart from Lloyds TSB are prevaricating as to whether they will pass any or some of it onto us - bet they cut the savings rate though!!

None of them as far as I can see are worth a wet week, they all have their own agenda, but lets just hope that Obama does it for y'all.

God Bless America ha ha!!!

I think for the first time I will like a leader for the promises he breaks more than the ones he keeps...
I've also see people who expect to much of Obama...I've also been reading about how he will have to let a lot of people down ...well sorry but they were heading for that fall..
I have taken Michelle Obama's ways to heart..and I now lived by need not want...and already I'm saving a ton of money...putting a few people nearer the dole mind you...because its want that brings in money and jobs not need..

I can only assume that those who anticipate immediate results also believe there are faeries at the bottom of their gardens and the moon's made of green cheese. I'm tempted to say they're too stoopid to vote but the fact that his very existence galvanised them enough to get them to the ballot box is to be applauded - whatever their motives.

Non-voters irritate the hell out of me as they're usually the most vociferous. (Like us!)

Remember those South Africans who tramped for weeks and queued for days to exercise their new democratic right to vote?

And, in all fairness to the fellah, he frequently said there was no immediate panacea for this country's ills.

I agree any politican has their own agenda, and agree lets hope Obama does introduce change for the good.

It will take years to recover from the debt America has got into because of the war. Something I believe America ahould not have got into in the first place, without the backing of the UN at least, well imho anyway

I would not of voted for Obama on the things he was promising....but he is breaking a few of those...so maybe he has ridden to power on the backs of the left..but will stay in power getting more conservative voters on his side..I've been a little pleased at a few things he has done already or has plans to do......if this carries on we could well be living in interesting times...

And, in all fairness to the fellah, he frequently said there was no immediate panacea for this country's ills. The only reason I vote is that if I do not, I do not then have the moral right to bitch about the government after the election. I am one of those South Africans who queued for days [ or in my case 4 hours ]. It was one of the most memorable occasions of my life. We all knew who would win but we all wanted a say.
Perhaps the Presidency will make Obama, it's happened before: Lincoln got elected by swearing to keep slavery; FDR promised to balance the budget. Times change, s..t happens. The most unprincipled, unscrupulous British politician ever, once said: "A week is a long time in politics." Ain't it the truth?

Here , here well said

This is a very difficult site to moderate and my thanks goes out to all of them for their hard work in doing a voluntary thankless task

Sometimes we are dammed if we act and dammed if we do not act.

Come on folks we are all mere humans that have a right to freedom of speech and opinions even if we strongly disagree, we should all at least respect others views, What we do not have to do is become personal or argue (publically) which is against forum rules. Racist remarks will not be allowed and ask that members respect our forum rules. Members do need to be very careful what they put in writing, (even in jest) as they could well find themselves skating on very thin ice, arrested and in serious trouble

<BIG snip>...who thinks Michelle Obama will make a good first lady?

I was wondering where, if at all, the functions and expectations of that role might be written down - anyone know?

But, then, another question occurred to me... if you can suspend disbelief for a moment and imagine that Hillary Clinton had won the primary and, further, by some act of ultimate ridiculousness, become Prez, what would Bill have become?

First Gentleman? No chance.
