Need Flu Shot

Hi all, can anyone help me out here, as a type 2 diabetic I need a yearly flu shot, and I think I have left it too late (panic panic,) does anyone out there know where I can get one from, also posted this on another forum so hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction, looking forward to helpful replies, fingers crossed,:( :( :(

i got mine in October at Publix but i looked at the time sheet and they have stopped now!

I do Em, I went there last week but she said they finished them a month ago(gulp) Tried Costco as well they have finished them to, getting panicky now, will I have to spend the rest of the cold weather holed up in my closet, so I dont come in contact with anyone???? Someone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dee,
surely if you have type 2 then you are classed as high risk and should get one anyway, i would ring round a few surgery's and ask if they have any doses left, failing that call the hospitals, someone will have a dose somewhere!

Em I do hope so, otherwise I am in closet for cold months, could start stocking up now on supplies, lets see,books(dirty) food(pork pies) fags, change of pjs,
drugs ah yes that should do it, seriously hope it doesnt come to that, otherwise how will Father Christmas find me, better leave him a note.

I do hope you get the shot - just keep on with the fags then as we are all lepers (us smokers) you wont get near anyone who has the dreaded lurgy and, hopefully, should not get it. Simple!!

I PM'd you, but not sure if you know about PM's, so I'll post it here for you. Local information - Try Poinciana Medical Center on Doverplum. Go down to the Publix in Poinciana. Turn right at the lights and continue down to the Library. They are in the portable buidlings next to the Library. They were doing free flu shots 2 weeks ago in Poinciana. They should have some shots left. If they charge you it will be minimal. The Center is part of Osceola County Health Department (local clinic to thee n'me).

Annie you are right about the smokers its ridiculous, carry a gun and fine pull out a pkt of fags an you had better watch out tee hee, hopefully will get a flu shot at the health dept, on Chris,s advice, also been told that Publix are still doing them so will check that out as well.

Hi em, thanks for that only just logged on so probably too late now, story of my life ha ha, but all is not lost at the moment, I am about to go up to an health centre near us on Chris,s advise so hopefully they will sort me out, if not its back to the drawing board, or the closet, god how depressing is this ha ha.

Update on the search for the allusive flu shot, went to health centre on Doverplum, walked in all bright eyed and bushy tailed as you do, spoke to the girl on reception and explained I am a diabetic and that I needed a flu shot, she told me to ring back after one as they where all at lunch, anyway pay attention are you all still with me on this , i phoned them up five after one and spoke to the lady who does immunizations she told me I could go today up till 4pm,as I was at Wal-mart I decided to go straight over, in I goes even brighter eyed and bushy tailed than before, and guess what, the person there (different girl this time) says they are NOT doing any flu shots for today, so I politely explained that I had only just spoke to someone not 5 mins before, at this she got extremely shirty and told me not to tell her how to do her job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( i then tried to explain again and asked to see the lady I had just spoken to, Attilla the Hun told me in her best spanish voice that she hadnt been in all day grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,:mad: by now I was sooooooooo losing my cool and asked to speak to someone in charge, and yes you guessed it she was the one in charge, I could feel my sugar levels rising rapidly and then asked why I had been told one thing and she was telling me another , she said she wasnt lying and to stop accusing her(the thought had never crossed my mind) and that unless you where a patient there you couldnt have one anyway, by this time well on my way into a diabetic coma, I asked her once again very politely if she could suggest anywhere else and she turned round to me and said, wait for it " I can fit you in Dec 12th at 1 45 but you willl have to pay 20 dollars!!!!!!!!!!! Dohhhhhhhhhh after she had just said I couldnt have one cos i am not a not a patient, am I now speaking in Russian and had never realised, another classic American tale of one hand doesnt know what the other is doing, and if i catch the flu before 12th dec i will be sueing, dont know who yet I will work on that one.

what a nightmare hey!!! hope you dont get the flu before the 12th (or at all really) have been in a similar situation myself but wont bore ya!!!

Hi Em, yes I booked it for the 12 Dec, knowing my luck I will get there and they will have closed the health centre down (I know they are all out to get me) so I came home and to cheer myself up decided to put up tree and decs, well I tell you, I was covered in glitter tinsel tied up in my hair my balls were broken all over the floor and the f@##ing lights didnt work, please send me one of your tequila xmas cakes immediately, medicinal purposes only you understand, aw well ho ho ho and all that .

So sorry to hear of your nightmare. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you don't get the flu before the 12th; have a few glasses of wine and your fags and the 12th wlll come round before you know it.

You sound as though you live in or near the area I live. Perhaps after Christmas we could get together and have a chinwag!! PM me with details. I am sure when I come back after Christmas I will need cheering up!!

Hi all, final update on flu shot,went for my appointmant as told at 1-45pm today, 12 December,went to desk gave my name and explained I had an appointment(using the term very loosely) and oh deep joy it was Attila again on duty, anyway she took my name and details and told me in her most politest fashion to "sit over there and wait while you are called to desk" so I did as I was told and waited and waited and waited, finally after about 45 mins I decided to be brave and ask her when I was going to get seen to, as I hadnt had lunch and being diabetic etc really needed to eat soon, she then pointed to a poster saying NO FOOD ALLOWED and told me to go back to my seat as they would shout me when ready so I did, finally at 3 20 I was called to the window and told to go into the room with the nurse, she smiled at me (yes you heard right) and said "have you been here long?" at this I just nodded, all the fight gone out of me at this stage, and rolled up my sleeve, after dabbing with the alcohol swab and me turning away in fear, she then said hang on I have changed my mind and will do the other arm instead, I was definately looking round this time for the old candid camera team(thought perhaps Em had set me up)so up my other sleeve went and I closed my eyes, I hate pricks, if you will all pardon the pun, anyway I managed to walk out on two legs to my car with my dignity in tact after only screaming a little bit, and being told not to be silly as children have this done as well, and her point being there was .......... Anyway back home now and feeling right as rain again, so there you have it, I am sure you were all riveted to your seats wondering what had happened to me in my quest for my Flu Jab, well maybe one or two of you where anyway, and besides i thought ou could all use a laugh:) :) :) Dee xxx

What a brave lady you are and how unsympathetic are these people - by the way did you pop out for a fag in the hours you were there or were you too scared, I would have been!!!

HI Annie just lol at your pop out for a fag!!!! A friend of ours here on E2 Kitchen and bedroom fitter was in an American ladies house. He said to her I am just going to pop out for a fag, she looked at him a bit funny and said I dont think you will find a fag round here!!!!!!! He said to her yes its fine I have a couple in the truck. She looked at him and said OH OK DEAR!!!!!! He went out had his fag then went back to carry on fitting the bedroom. The lady came back in and said Oh is everything ok, he said yes, she asked if he had had a fag and he said yes a couple. She looked totally shocked and said you british are very open. He had no idea what she was talking about. After a while they realised they both had different meanings Fag here has totally different meaning (nice boy comes to mind) he lol lol lol he couldnt believe what she had thought he was doing in the truck.

Hi Sharon , please dont get me started on different meaning words, I was mortified when my Grandson was going to school here, you know how they have to buy everything before they start, well we had everything only rubbers(erasers to us ignorant brits) I had no idea, went into wal-mart to look for them couldnt find any, asked the lady on the counter and she sent me to the pharmacy side, couldnt understand why, went back to her and told her there were none up there, but i had managed to find some in the toy dept, with yellow feathers on the end(meaning pencils) she was totaly dumbfounded and asked me who they were for. so I TOLD HER MY 8 YEAR OLD GRANDSON, she looked at me as if I should be locked up, the manager came over and I explained to him what I wanted, by this time I was very upset with the assist, I am thinking to myself all this fuss over a couple of rubbers, the manager then asked me if I was BRITISH AND EXPLAINED WHAT A RUBBER WAS OVER HERE AAAGHHH, I dont know who had the reddest face me him or the assistant, from now on I always check that there isnt another meaning to anything I have to buy, aw well Merry Christmas:) :) :) :) Dee xxxx
