Black Irish, no doubt.
I don't think we put silly titles in front of what we are in Europe..we are just Irish or English... or British or whatever...no matter what colour or race we are...
I remember seeing a news report over here in the US about a young black English girl being attacked in Paris because of her colour..the American News reporter called her African American ...sorry but we just have English people in England...and even if we did that would not make them American...

It was! But I was quite chuffed as it was the first time I hadn't been accused of being an Ozzie; "Well, y'all sure dress like an Ozzie...".
Huh?

I used to drive around with the cross of St George in place of a front tag... after the fourth time of being asked if I was Palestinian, I caved and went for the UJ version.
With a trip back home planned, a few days before flying out, I nipped into the bank and ordered some currency for those Immediate Impulse Buys (Cornettos, a Walnut Whip, Sausage Roll, proper-sized loo paper, Bloater Paste... y'know...).
"Where are you going, Sir..?"
"Back home to the UK for a few days."
"Ossum! You can collect your currency tomorrow."
And I did. A fat stack of UKranian Roubles...

Lousy, mainly.
When I finally hammer it home that I'm talking about England, there's usually a pause and then a little light glows faintly in their eyes. Just when I think I'm getting somewhere, they'll come up with something like "I have a cousin in Maryland... mebbe you've met him!".
I suppose it's better than the Have You Ever Met Diana/Julie [sic] Dench/Ricky Gervais/a bus with an upstairs/a Dentist...

As I have said before totally thick. We informed our Bank that our address had changed, guess how it ended up - instead of Essex it became Estonia, Fl. I am getting seriously worried about America! They will not send stuff to us here anyway, we asked for duplicate statements but they insisted on sending them to our address in Florida - I think I am going to have serious words with them - just how many people have homes in Florida but still receive their statements in England - we did for many years without a problem; unfortunately and I hate to say this but the lower echelons seem to be the norm over there (as they are over here) and we are all going to hell in a handcart!!!!
Sorry, but for Gods sake it is not exactly rocket science when it is written on a computer, you only have to copy the goddam thing - my patience is wearing thin when it comes to America - when will it ever end?!!!

Could it be that you have never heard the age-old description of Black Irish to describe a dark, very Irish person? To my knowledge, its usage goes back hundreds of years. Just shows the danger of making these type of jokes. By the way, ever heard of the English Midlands being called The Black Country? That goes back to the Industrial Revolution.

The only Irish one we have in the family now is my Grandson..my Uncle sadly is no longer with us...he died of his injuries from a fallout he had with the IRA...it did take him years mind you...he was never one to miss a party....lol
I would of thought black Irish could of been travelers ..my Uncle by marriage is a full Gypsy ....and he is very dark skinned...along with my best friends husband..my mum also shows her Gypsy blood..I sure I do too...or did when my hair was jet black...
