It's a real big thing over here at the moment, as it should be. There have been too many cases where these Social workers say "lessons have been learned" - a total crock!! Unfortunately everything in this day and age has to be PC - it's about time we returned to the standards of yesteryear - this just isn't working and poor little souls whose lives should be ahead of them are murdered. Just don't understand how anybody could do this to the poor defenseless mites - I would put the perpetrators against a wall and shoot them if I had my way, they are no good to man nor beast as far as I and many other people are concerned - they are too sick for words!!!

So many couples desperately wanting to adopt children undergo checks and inspections and the deepest personal scrutiny - and then might be turned down ultimately for being "over-weight" (remember that one in the news a few years ago?!).

But it seems we hear frequently of these unspeakable creatures who just seem to spawn children like feral cats and are little more than unscrupulous, amoral breeders who only come to the attention of child welfare services when the rot's already set in and it's too late. Somehow, they manage to slip through the net time and time again.

Every ten days in England and Wales one child is killed at the hands of their parent.

Social workers really live in a 'dammed if you do dammed if you don't' world. No excuses in the case of Baby 'P', there were enough warning signs and some heads should roll. The whole system of care needs to be reviewed and a realistic appraisal of what can and should be achieved put into place. There's no point in expecting that this sort of horrific incident will never happen again because there is a limit as to what social services can do. I would, however, advocate that those who criticise, those who delegate and those who legislate spend some time working at the coal face to see the reality of what social workers have to deal with.

It was what I went to college to be...left to become a dog trainer..my best friend and her mother both worked in SS..caring for kids in need and in danger..glad I never finished the training...being attacked by large dogs is a lot easier...I started taking in babies in need but then had my second baby..and a car crash.. thought about doing the same here..I do give homeless kids and young adults a roof when needed....but not sure if I could cope with a baby full time..

I sincerely hope so Chrissie,this to me has got to be the worst case of child abuse I have ever come across.makes me want to get on a plane to the UK ,and hug my 18 month old granduaghter,it has sickened me to my stomach.It makes you wonder how many other kids are out there right under our noses,perhaps if the world hadnt gone so pc crazy more people would intervene in these horrible situations,I know I would if I suspected for a second that any child I knew of was being abused,it is so horrible,I cant sleep thinking of what that little boy went through at the hands of those sadists.

Unfortunately there are too many liberal do gooders out there who say kids should be with their parents. I don't care what anybody says, we all know the type of people who become Social Workers and I am sorry if this might offend some people (I am sure there are many good ones out there) but the majority of them have absolutely no clue and think that these so called "parents" will change. Believe me, they wont!!! I don't really care who I upset when it comes to babies and little kiddies who are killed by these monsters - I and many thousands of other people think that Social workers are just too bogged down with political correctness (which they believe in) by the way and they bury their heads in the sand.

When it comes to kids if I was a Social worker then my teeth would be bared against all comers - would probably lose my job but not without a fight!!

Im totally gobsmacked.
Im going to have to give my kids an extra hug tonight, because stories like this really make me thankful that my kids are well looked after.

Social service vistors should be trained to check children for marks and legions. Saying "how are you little fella " really isnt good enough. I realise its difficult job , and that they might be breaking up a family for no reason, but i would have wanted those kids out of the house purley because of the unsanitary conditions.
If you visit an "at risk" child , would you not want to see were it sleeps , and check its poor lil body over.
For a medically trained person to miss a broken back and ribs is beyond belief.

and we think death by lethal injection in inhumane !!!!!!! Its what these people deserve.

I am trying to put this thing in perspective, be it in England, America or anywhere else in the world! The likes of Dee, myself, Chrissie etc etc are totally incensed about this baby as we should be, BUT if put in perspective with everything else that is happening in the world the likes of us although in the majority are in the minority in the scheme of things. I know that might sound stupid but unfortunately in this world we live in there are too many do gooders, and amazing as it might sound they obviously outnumber us or they seem to have the loudest voice for some reason - something I really don't understand - perhaps somebody out there could make me understand why, although I sure as hell don't understand it because the people I deal with on a day to day basis feels as we do - so why is it then that we are outnumbered?!!!

Sorry if the above sounds disjointed but so many times when I read the Daily Mail website they are all in agreement with my thinking, so why is it that all this sh.. is allowed to happen?!! Where is our voice? Why are we allowing this to happen? Omg, I am sick to death of this country, as I am sick to death of America - where can I escape to that is normal?!!! Answers on a postcard!!!!

It is the exact same council that failed Victoria Climbie in 2000 - the government the n passed through a selection of new rules and laws that were supposed to prevent it happening again.

In terms of the mother having a new identity when she comes out I hate to say it but its hardly a surprise when you think about the fact that others before have (Jamie Bulgars killers were given protection and new idenities) and I believe Maxine (Soham) as well.......
