The Sunday Times article has appeared. This is the one I had a call about on Monday.

It is better than I had expected. It is not a 'rose tinted' piece.

OK, the reporter got a couple of things wrong from what was said - but the basic weight of the article is right and should cause typical E2 investors to think twice - that is IF they are Sunday Times readers - which they probably aren't !

You will find it in the property section - page 62 "Grounded in reality".

Sue gets a very good plug for her new Ex-PatsVoice :)

I tried to scan it and attach it here but a whole page of the S.Times is too big a file to attach and the Forum won't pemit it - unless I scale it down so small that you won't be able to read it. So you will have to go out and buy a copy (like me) !

I see you have put the same post on here that you did on another website. Strangly enough I'm still offended at you implying I'm not intelligent enough to read it.

I wish you would keep your posts about living or moving to the US factual, which you could do without the snide comments that always seem to accompany them.

Again here is the link, that we acually know how to do and you appear not to!!!!

Actually I read a quality paper as The Times has rapidly gone down hill with the rest of Murdoch's empire

Yes, yes Zoe, I get your message ! Having been out for most of the day since early this morning I have only just read it.

At the time that I put this post onto this Forum and the other one it was early on Sunday morning and, so far as I could see, the Times had not updated its website to reflect todays article in their online copy.

You obviously went in later - by which time they had put it online and you were able to make the link. Thanks from all the people who can now read it thanks to your efforts.

My comments about Sunday Times readers were meant to imply that, maybe this article would have a better chance of hitting the people for whom it might offer some assistance (and protection) if it were published in one of the more compact papers that they may have a better chance of reading. Nothing to do with intelligence - simply market share !

Don't be so sensitive ! You are obviously being very successful and I wish you only the best. :)

Interesting that it mentions that you cant get a visa from buying three houses as there is a common conception going around that you can and the concept is being marketed by a one stop shop. When a couple of us on another forum were dubious about whether this would get you E2, the broker jumped on us telling us how many visas he had managed to get this way. Ho hum.

Hi

I have now had a chance to read the article and agree with Peters comments. She got a few deatils wrong about myself.

At least they got the point across about www.expatsvoice.org even though she got the web address wrong

Never mind, at least many press offices around the world will be reading this paper and who knows what could happen as a result

If anyone knows of any other newpapers in the UK or any of the 50 states that I / we could contact, please post the papers contact details here or pm me

Regarding this article-I wrote to John Caulfield last year about our visa delay. To be fair to the guy what he is saying isn't too bad--in other words if you buy a "non marginal" business you should be ok. Any of us involved in STR's know the market is satchurated and people are bailing out , profit taking or just don't want the hassle. If you can't make it pay on the overheads how can it give you a living as well? Provided the business are providing good incomes streams then the applicant SHOULD be ok--this is where the problem is that some good applications are being turned down when they are more than substantial enough.

Maybe firmly issued guidelines-where applicants can tick off the requirements would not only help the applicant but save the embassy time in dealing with insufficient applications. May be the visa consultants should do this--but then again may they won't as their exhorbitant fees would dwindle!!
