He is a very 'charming' person and can understand folks being taken in by him.
I remember when he had his bike accident (he was actually given the last rites at the hospital). Soon after Govoni parted company with him and he set up on his own.
I find it impossible to believe that wives are in the total darkness about what their husbands do, so please excuse me if I find it difficult to believe that she and maybe others in the family didn't know what was going on. You cannot misplace $3 million just like that. It is unlikely to be cash and would have been electronic transfers to a bank account here in Florida. There is a trail somewhere. He said someone in the office took the money???? It is not rocket science to identify those that worked in the office and interview them.

It smacks of Ernest Saunders ex boss of Guinness, money scandal back in the 80's. He was found guilty of his financial crime to do with investments and shares in Guinness, went to prison and was released early because he managed to convince them he had developed alzheimers. Post release, he is the only person EVER to have beaten the condition and returned to normal. The missing money there was never located.
You are right Chris, if the authorities really wanted to trace where the money went I am sure they could. There is a an electronic paper trail somewhere, I dont believe it is buried somewhere in a suitcase in cash!! The same with another person who shall be nameless who hasnt even been arrested as far as I know. Where did the $3 million he was given by a load more Brits go to and how come no one is willing or able to look??

sadly - wasn't the "other one" also using an attorney to hold the escrow...there's no real answers here. Glad this scumbag got a long sentence - but still sad that it's unlikely his victims will see their money back anytime soon.
I hope that have been able to "somewhat" move on with their lives.

Hi, Yes Dustin we are still here and I am glad this case has been brought to some form of resolution, the return of all monies would have been great and I'm sure much of it is 'offshore' but things have a way of becoming right for those that are right and others get to spend time with Bubba!

Not according to the victims website which is still going and updated, it specifically states the escrow was held in "his" bank account. Had it been held with an attorney the Florida Bar could have taken action.

My mistake - we are talking about DC right? I thought he'd had an attorney involved! But it would seem not.

I cannot believe how light Doug Hall has got it, 9.5 years for breaking up families and destroying many peoples lives seems a pittance. They must know where the money has gone or at least some of it

He did a plea deal at the last moment, no contest , at first he was pleading innocent and if found guilty would have got about 33 years. By taking a plea deal he did save the US tax payers flights and hotels for all the victims

He will be fed and watered at the tax payers expense, while his wife lives in a home she owns, wonder where the money came from to buy that

Dustin is staying with me at the moment, at least he got to speak his mind and got to see Dough Hall carted away. Dustin was featured on bay news 9

Exactly Sue, there has to be a paper trail. If the US can have the Patriot Act to ensure paper trails for foreigners, then why do they not have that 'expertise' for one of their own?
I believe there is some complicity within the Hall family unit and for lots of reasons the authorities do not seem willing to check things out. I'm not sure whether Polk Cty led on this investigation or whether it was the FBI. The Hall's were a well known family in the main circle in Bartow. That's where all the movers and shakers live. It's also where the Sheriff's office is. Hall's wife worked for the DA's office so had lots of contacts within the legal world.
Kinda smells to me????

I found it. Click on link in post 338. You can enter a search for him and he will come up. There were only 2 Douglas Hall's. He was No. 1
